A man in Maharashtra was shocked out of his wits to get a video call from his friend who was ‘buried’ days ago by his family. The incident was reported from Maharashtra’s Palghar district, where the 60-year-old man, who was assumed to be dead, was found alive thanks to a clip of a video call with his friend gone viral days ago. For now, authorities are trying to identify the body which was mistakenly buried by the 60-year-old man’s family.

Earlier on January 29, a man was killed after being runover by a train when he was trying to cross tracks between the Palghar and Boisar stations. The picture of the man was circulated by the authorities to ascertain the identity and hand over the body to the family. Soon enough, a man from Palghar approached the authorities and claimed that it was his brother Rafique who had gone missing two months ago.

The cops then contacted the “dead” person’s wife, who also identified him as her husband, and the cops handed over the body to the family for the burial.

However, in a shocking twist-of-fate, a friend of Rafique Shaikh was horrified when he called him casually. In the video call, Shaikh informed his friend that he is fine and “not dead”.

The Facts of the Matter

Burial due to mistaken identity can often cause emotional distress to the family involved, as it would prevent them of having a closure and honoring their deceased family member’s memory. Such incidents can occur due to a variety of reasons, such as miscommunication between family members, human error by funeral directors or coroners, or a lack of proper identification at the time of death.

Curious Case of ‘Mistaken Identity’

In one such incident, a man in Maharashtra was shocked out of his wits when he received a video call from a friend who was reported to have been ‘buried’ days ago by his family.

The incident pertains to a 60-year-old auto-rickshaw driver, assumed to be dead by the family members who buried him. The 60-year-old man was found alive after a clip of him speaking to his friend over a video call went viral. Currently, the authorities are trying to identify the body of the buried person.

Unidentified Man Runover by Train

Earlier on January 29, a man was runover by train and was killed when he was trying to cross railway track between the Palghar and Boisar station. After the man’s body was discovered, the Government Railway Police circulated the man’s pictures to ascertain his identity and find his family.

Soon enough, a man approached the cops and claimed that the deceased was his brother Rafique Shaikh who had gone missing two months ago.

Wife Confirm Man’s Identity

To confirm the claim, the Palghar GRP contacted the man’s wife in Kerala. The woman came to Palghar, and also identify the body as her husband’s following which, it was handed over to the family and received a burial.

However, in a shocking twist of fate, on Sunday, a man received a phone call from Rafique Shaikh, who told his friend that he was fine and alive. The driver’s family members were also told about the incident after the video clip of the call went viral.

Police Now Making Efforts To Know Man’s Real Identity

They then somehow got in touch with Shaikh, and took to the police to inform them about the new development in the unusual case.

Later, the police found out that Shaikh had landed at a destitute home in Palghar after leaving his home a few months back. However, the family members had identified the body of the man who had been run over, as Shaikh’s.

Now, the cops are making efforts to ascertain the identity of the man who was runover.
