Another fantastic milestone was achieved by Mahindra and Mahindra today after the Mahindra XUV700 was rated the 5th safest car in India. The new XUV700 achieved a smashing 5-star rating at the NCAP tests. For the uninitiated, the Global NCAP stands for Global New Car Assessment Program. The NCAP is an assessment program where automobiles go through rigorous real world crash tests so that their worthiness can be assessed.
The Mahindra XUV700 has already been a hit before even hitting the road. The company received a jubilant response from the customers with as many as 75,000 prospective buyers already prebooking the SUV. Now the company has achieved a great safety score – 41.66 out of the possible 49.
In the Indian automobile market, which is populated by the likes of Maruti Suzuki, Tata and Hyundai, competing proves to be a challenging task. A vehicle must come with extraordinary set of features, a powerful engine, a slick design, all in an affordable package.
Mahindra and Mahindra, riding on the popularity of its previous SUVs Bolero and Scorpio, ventured into the Indian markets with the XUV700 and XUV500. The SUVs became incredibly popular and often outsold other cars from the same category.
Recently, the 2021 variant of XUV700 had its NCAP test, which if passed with flying colors.
The Facts of the Matter
Mahindra’s newest XUV700 has been awarded an astonishing 5-star safety rating by the global safety watchdog NCAP. While the car had to settle for 4 stars for child occupant protection category, it received a full 5 stars for the adult occupation protection in the latest round of crash-test.
With the 5-star rating, XUV700 is now the 5th Indian car to receive highest global NCAP ratings. The other 4 cars in the list are Tata Nexon, Tata Punch, Tata Altroz and Mahindra XUV 300. While Tata continues to win trust of customers through the NCAP tests, its interesting that manufacturers like Maruti Suzuki, Hyundai, MG are still trailing behind them.
