In a blood-curdling incident reported from Delhi, a man barged into a school, removed the clothes of two girl students, exposed himself, and further urinated in front of students.

Perhaps the most startling fact in the entire ordeal is that the principal asked the students to “forget it” and keep quiet about the matter. The incident was brought to the fore after Delhi Commission of Woman chief Swati Malliwal issued a notice to the MCD commissioner and demand an arrest of the alleged accused.

“Man barged into MCD school in Delhi & took off 2 girls’ clothes, then defecated in front of entire class! When the girls told the principal & teacher, they said ‘forget it’! I have issued a notice to the police – the accused should be arrested immediately. The MCD commissioner has also been summoned. Accountability must be certain!”, the DCW chief tweeted.

Meanwhile, the police have already registered a case under the Protection of Children from Sexual Offences Act (POCSO) and teams have already been put in place to arrest the accused. The DCW has sought more information about the matter by May 6, along with an action-taken report.

The Facts of the Matter

While laws pertaining to sexual offences against children are put in place to ensure justice is served to every survivor, stigma around the issue leads to under-reporting and shame in the survivors. Recently, a school principal, a person whose job is to protect and safeguard the best interests of his students, told students to “forget it” and “keep quiet” after an unknown man sexually offended two female students.
