The Facts of the Matter
When it comes to the institution of marriage, Indian society is quite conflicted, and some might say, even hypocritical.
On one hand, parents of young men and women look forward to their children’s marriage and when the day comes, no expenses are spared and no emotions are left unexpressed.
On the other hand, when men and women who may have divorced or lost their partner, decide to get remarried, society looks at them with a raised brow. Even as we live in 2022, stigma around getting remarried in your 50s and 60s, especially if you’re a woman, still persists.
