A Manipur teen that has made an Iron Man suit from scrap has gone viral. Entrepreneur Anand Mahindra has stepped in as a figurative Tony Stark and has pledged to help the teen in his future endeavors.

Many Marvel fans would remember how Tony Stark aka Iron Man identified the thriving genius of Peter Parker. Later, Stark helps Parker with a better designed spiderman suit and also helps Parker become a better person.

A similar story is unfolding in India where entrepreneur and Twitter’s favourite darling Anand Mahindra has changed yet another life. This time, he has stepped in to help with the education of a Manipur teen. The teen’s genius is visible in his attempts at making the best out of waste.

It was the year 2008 when Marvel’s Iron Man was released. The film showed a charming, witty and genius entrepreneur in Tony Stark as Robert Downey Jr. Tony Stark was left to his own devices when he was kidnapped by a terrorist organization. While abducted, Tony went on to create the first prototype of Iron Man suit – Mark 1.

In Manipur, a teen boy is perhaps on his way to do something similar. With his love for tools and engineering, the boy has created his own Iron Man suit with scrap.

Industrialist Iron Man is known to shock and stir netizens. At times he shares some rib-tickling videos, at times he shares some wonderful quotes.

More importantly, when his eyes catch a thriving genius or an industrious person in need, he takes to Twitter.

He not only applauds and appreciates the person’s efforts, but also moves divisions of his company to help the person out.

“Move over Tony Stark”: Anand Mahindra Discovers Manipur Teen

In one such situation, Anand Mahindra somehow landed on the story of a Manipur boy who was impressing people with his tech skills. The boy made an entire Iron Man suit from scrap. Taking heed of the matter, Mahindra not only lauded the boy, but also sent teams from his company to understand the boy’s requirements future.

Taking to Twitter, Mr. Mahindra wrote, “Move over Tony Stark. Make way for the REAL Iron Man. And it would be a privilege to assist him & his siblings in their education. If someone can connect me to him, it will be a privilege for me & @KCMahindraEduc1 to support him.” He also thanked actor and voice actor Javed Jaaferi who apparently shared the story of the boy.

Mahindra Sends Auto Sector Partner to Meet the Boy

In the next few tweets, Mr. Mahindra informed how his partners in Imphal located the boy and spoke to him about his goals. “I had tweeted about Prem, the young man from Imphal who used scrap material to build an ‘Iron Man’ suit. I was keen to support his obvious talent & I’m grateful to our Auto sector partners, ShivzAutotech in Imphal for visiting Prem & his family to understand his desires. (1/3)”, Mr. Mahindra tweeted.

“Awestruck & Inspired”: Mahindra Lauds Manipur Teen

Mr. Mahindra further said how he was “awestruck & inspired” by the teen’s skills despite his evident circumstances. He further noted how some people with privilege never appreciate the resources at hand.

“I am awestruck & inspired by Prem’s ambition & skills that have flowered despite—not because of—his circumstances. Many of us from privileged backgrounds never appreciated enough the resources we were given. But Prem uses scrap material & basic tools to shape his creations,” he tweeted.

“Mahindra Foundation will Facilitate Education”

Taking things one step further, Mr. Mahindra took matters in his hand and claimed that his company’s design officer will be connecting with the teen. The Mahindra & Mahindra group chairman further said that his foundation will facilitate the Manipur teen and his siblings’ education.

Who is Ningomban Prem – the Manipur Teen who Impressed Anand Mahindra?

Ningomban Prem is the Manipur teen who has become famous thanks to his industrious nature. The resident of Heriok Part 2 village, Prem is a student of Imphal Art College.

Due to financial constraints, he kept the dream of making an Iron Man suit alive by collecting electronic waste materials. This included IV-tubes, syringes, lamps, speaker frames, remnants of the toys, and other relevant waste.

He also supports his parents who manage a roadside food stall.
