New details have emerged about the tragic death of beloved actor Matthew Perry. According to a report by the Daily Mail, Perry’s assistant found him unconscious underwater in his hot tub and tried to save him.
The assistant lifted Perry’s head out of the water and attempted to get him air, first responders said. However, it was too late. Perry, best known for playing Chandler Bing on the hit sitcom Friends, died at age 53 on Saturday, October 28 in his Pacific Palisades home.
Firefighters Unable to Revive Unconscious Perry
Los Angeles firefighters arrived at Perry’s residence around 4 pm after receiving an emergency call. “Los Angeles City Firefighters responded [and] found an adult male unconscious in a stand-alone hot tub,” LAFD Capt. Erik Scott told the press. “A bystander had brought the man’s head above the water and gotten him to the edge, then firefighters removed him from the water upon their arrival.”
Tragically, Perry was already deceased when help arrived. The circumstances surrounding his death remain under investigation by the LAPD and LA County Medical Examiner. An autopsy has been completed but the cause of death is pending toxicology results. Foul play is not suspected at this time.
911 Call Reveals Drowning Attempt
A chilling 911 call from Perry’s home reveals a man saying “drowning” on the evening the actor died. Some words were bleeped out for privacy. The call underscores the desperate attempt to save Perry’s life that night.
