Great news for those parents who are unable to breastfeed their babies. Mother’s milk had been prepared in the laboratory for the first time in the world, by two women scientists. This milk is named ‘Biomilk’ and it contains hundreds of proteins and fatty acids.

From North Carolina (USA), great news for parents all over the world has been announced who are unable to breastfeed their babies. Pair of American women scientists has succeeded for the first time in the world to prepare breast milk inside a laboratory.
This milk has been named ‘Biomilk’. The scientists who made it said that they have tested the nutritional value of Biomilk. It has been tried to add on hundreds of proteins, fatty acids and other fats in abundance just like real breast milk. According to the making of the laboratory milk, the company that makes the Biomilk says that it is more than the ingredients of breast milk.

The company’s co-founder and chief science officer, Layla Strickland, said that-
“Our latest work has shown that most of the complexity of milk production is achieved by replicating the difficult relationships between the cells that make it up and combining the body’s experiences during feeding, and now it can be achieved.”

Origin of the idea
The origin of the idea to make mother’s milk aroused when Layla Strickland’s baby was born early and she faced some major difficulties in feeding him. Layla Strickland is an eminent cell biologist. Milk could not be made inside body her to feed the child. She tried a lot but she failed again and again.
After this, she started generating memory cells inside the laboratory in the year 2013. After this, in the year 2019, she partnered with another food scientist Michelle Egger. Together they kick-started their start-up ‘Biomilk’ with a hope raising for the parents around the globe who are unable to feed their baby breast milk due to some or the other difficulty.
In February 2020, both scientists announced that lab-grown memory cells made sugar and casein, the two main substances that are found in milk. After this, the way to make mother’s milk was cleared. Scientists have told that this milk will come in the market in the next three years and they are hoping for its success.
