As said, being a multi-talented person, she is an actor, ultra marathoner, on that, she is the first Indian woman to have completed the 100-mile Himalayan Ultra Marathon, is also an entrepreneur, and is intensely involved in human rights and social justice. Indian Origin artist, born in Mumbai, based in New York, Priya Darshini, got nominated in the 63rd Grammy Awards.

She is nominated for her debut album “Periphery” which was released on the 15th May 2020. Priya Darshini’s album is selected under the Best New Age Album category. Her album comprises of nine songs, with a soul of its own, the music is based on the harmony of different styles, genres, and cultures. She hasn’t only explored the feminist side but also has tapped into her identity, a South Indian girl living in NYC.
Priya Darshini is a multi-talented being. Not only has she sung for hundreds of television and radio commercials but has also given her voice to a lot of award-winning songs in the Indian Bollywood industry.
This 37-year-old singer was born in Goregaon, Mumbai, to a Tamil family. She is trained in classical (Carnatic) music and has an inclination towards the creation of cross-cultural music melodies. Her source of inspiration for classical music has been her grandmother who herself was a Bharatanatyam dancer and a classical vocalist and her name was also Priya Darshini.
As an entrepreneur and philanthropist, she supports cancer patients. Priya Darshini takes care of her family’s NGO Jana Rakshita which was established in the year 2004 and is based in Mumbai. This NGO offers medical treatment and rehabilitation services to the underprivileged children and adolescents affected by cancer. Her NGO has also adopted a girl’s school with the aim of encouraging girl education and reduce the rate of dropouts due to lack of sanitation and hygiene and therefore has taken the work to improve its infrastructure as well.
Priya Darshini has worked with a lot of tremendously incredible and renowned singers like Pearl Jam, Roy “Futureman” Wooten, Jeff Coffin, Philip Lassiter, and ukulele player Jake Shimabukuro, and many more. She recently sang with Chesky Records.
