In a shocking incident reported from Mumbai, a ‘tantrik’ reportedly duped an elderly man of Rs. 45 lakhs. The accused in questioned told the elderly man that his funds would increase if they are kept in a ‘magical chest’ over the time.
However, when the victim opened the “magical chest”, all he found was bricks and stones. The accused in the matter was identified as Kailash Nath, who pretended to be a God man, and his two aides, Priya Soni and Ajit Patil. The elderly victim was identified as Arun Gadgil.
The accused are arrested and are booked under multiple sections of the Indian Penal Code, the Maharashtra Prevention and Eradication of Human Sacrifice and other Inhuman, Evil and Aghori Practices and the Black Magic Act.
According to a Mid-Day report, the incident transpired a couple of months back when the elderly victim approached Priya Soni, a real-estate broker, for house hunt. Soni then introduced the elderly victim to Kailash Nath, who showed black magic ritual by putting Rs 200 note in a pot and pulling out double notes of the same not.
Convinced that he was witnessing something otherworldly, the elderly man gave Rs 45 lakhs (once Rs 20 lakhs, and then Rs 25 lakhs) to the accused, in the hopes that they would be doubled.
The Facts of the Matter
While India continues progressing leaps and bounds by harnessing the power of technology and innovation, superstition continues to prey on the vulnerable and greedy. Recently, five people were arrested in the case of duping an elderly man on the tune of Rs 45 lakhs.

Meet the Accused and Victim
While the incident transpired a few months back, the police arrested the accused earlier this week. The accused were identified as Kailash Nath, 50, Ajit Patil, 33, Ganesh Pilavle, 29, Priya Soni, 39 and Deepak Kotekar, 39. In the shocking scam, Kailash pretended being a ‘tantrik’.
The elderly man who got scammed was identified as 75-year-old Arun Gadgil.
Meeting the “Godman”
According to reports, a couple of months back Arun Gadgil had approached Priya Soni, a real-estate broker for house hunting. Soni took the victim to Satara and acquainted him with Kailash Nath who demonstrated his “black magic skills”. He put Rs 200 and Rs 500 notes in a pot and pulled out double notes.
The accused then lured the victim further into trap and told him about another “ritual”. The accused asked the victim to provide him with Rs 25 lakhs to perform black magic which can magically increase the funds.

Duped Once and then Second Time
The victim went to Satara and the accused put the cash in a magical “chest”. He then gave the victim the suitcase, and told him that if he opens the suitcase before three days, he would die. The complainant opened the suitcase after three days and found the chest to be empty.
He once again reached out to the accused who told him that he was “cursed’ and that he would need to give Rs 20 lakhs more.

“Magical Chest” Filled with Stones, Bricks
When the victim once again opened the suitcase, he found it filled with bricks and stones. Finally realizing that he was duped, the victim filed a complaint and an investigation ensued.
All the accused were arrested from Mumbai, Satara and other regions. They were charged under multiple sections of IPC, Black Magic Act, and Maharashtra Prevention and Eradication of Human Sacrifice and other Inhuman, Evil and Aghori Practices and Black Magic Act, 2013.
