Ex-IB officer RK Kulkarni was run over by a car with no number plate in the campus of a university in Mysuru. The shocking act of what’s now being speculated as a cold-blooded murder, was caught on cam, visuals of which are going viral on social media. The incident occurred earlier on Friday when mr Kulkarni was talking a walk at the Mysore University campus.
Hair-raising video of the incident shows Mr Kulkarni talking a stroll on the sidewalk of a road when a black coloured car approaches. Although the ex-intelligence officer back off and tried to step away as far as he could from the approaching vehicle, the black car changes its direction and runs him over. Although the case was initially being investigated as a hit-and-run one, CCTV footage showed that the accident appeared to be an act of murder.
As per Dr Chandragupta, the city police commissioner, and Pradeep Gunti, the deputy commissioner of police, the matter is now being investigated as a murder case. The duo also visited the crime scene earlier on Friday.
Mr. RK Kulkarni, was a Karnataka University graduate. He started working for the IB (Intelligence Bureau), India’s internal security and counter-intelligence agency which comes under the purview of Ministry of Home Affairs.
The Facts of the Matter
A new shocking twist has emerged in the RK Kulkarni accident case, which is no more being looked as an accident case. On Friday, ex-IB officer RK Kulkarni was run over by a car when he was taking a walk inside the University of Mysore campus. Initially, the matter was being investigated as a hit-and-run case.
However, after the top cops investigated the CCTV footage, they are now investing the death of RK Kulkarni as a murder case. The time when Mr Kulkarni was mowed over by a car with no number plate was captured by CCTV.

What Does the Video Show?
The video of the incident shows Mr Kulkarni taking a stroll on the sidewalk of a road. Suddenly, black coloured car speeds towards him. Before the ex-IB officer could react, the car hits him and flees from the scene without stopping. It should be noted that the car was on a different trajectory and the driver had to change its direction in a deliberate manner so that Mr Kulkarni could be hit.

Cops Speculate Murder, Not Accident
Mysuru police commissioner Chandragupta was quoted in an NDTV report saying, “After inquiry, we arrived at the conclusion that it was not an accident, but planned murder.”
Another official mentioned that the lane that Mr Kulkarni was on, was part of the university campus, and not many people took the route often. Further, the fact that there was no registration plate indicates that the incident was not an accidental in nature, but a deliberate planned act of crime.
A case of rash driving, and speeding was rushed initially. Now a murder case has been filed and investigation is on in the matter.

Who was RK Kulkarni?
For the unversed, Mr RK Kulkarni was a graduate from Karnataka University. He was selected to work for the Information Bureau in 1963 and held several positions for the next thirty years. He retired 23 years ago and went on to author a number of books including ‘Facets of Terrorism in India’, ‘Sin of National Conscience’.
He was 82 when he was killed.
