Background

Contrary to IIFA (International Indian Film Academy Awards) or Filmfare awards, the National Film Awards ceremony is relatively a low-key affair without any comedy sketches or dance performances. However, the National Film Awards is the most prominent film award ceremony. The National Awards have 3 categories – Feature Films, Non-Feature Films, and Best Writing on Cinema.

The feature and non-feature category awards technical and aesthetic excellence of films across multiple languages. The Best Writing category celebrates people and literature that celebrates the world of film making.

On October 25, the 67th National Film Awards were announced.
