The Punjab Congress Chief, Navjot Singh Sidhu has been criticized by the Delhi BJP MP Gautam Gambhir for referring Imran Khan, the Prime Minister of Pakistan as his “elder brother.”

After Navjot Singh Sidhu crossed the Kartarpur Corridor for offering prayers at Gurudwara Darbar Shaib on Saturday afternoon, he has been in controversy for making remarks about Imran Khan. The Punjab Congress Chief, Navjot Singh Sidhu made this statement for the PAK PM- “Imran Khan is my elder brother. I am greatly honored. He gave us a lot of love.”

Gautam Gambhir’s Reaction

One a cricketers of India and now a politician, Gautam Gambhir refer Sidhu’s act as “shameful” and recommends him to send his children to the border before making such remarks. He said it is disgusting for Sidhu to praise the head of a nation who has been sponsoring terrorism in India for 70 years. Gautam expressed his anger by making a tweet

Gambhir also reminded Sidhu about the sacrifices of more than 40 soldiers and civilians that lost their lives last month due to Pakistani terrorist attacks in Kashmir. He also mentioned the 2018 incident, when Sidhu made a visit to Pakistan at Imran’s swearing-in ceremony and embraced Pakistani Army Chief General, Qamar Javed Bajwa.

The Reaction of BJP and Other Political Parties

The members of the Bhartiya Janata Party (BJP) made a strong objection against the remarks made by Navjot Singh Sidhu for the Pakistani cricketer-politician. The politicians accused the Punjab Congress Chief, by sharing the video of Sidhu calling Imran Khan as his elder brother while talking to Muhammad Latif, the Chief Executive Officer of the Kartarpur Corridor Project Management Unit. Along with Navjot Singh Sidhu they also targeted Rahul Gandhi, the leader of the Congress party.

Whereas, Raghav Chadha the state affairs co-in-charge of the Aam Aadmi Party (AAP) and a national spokesperson termed Sidhu’s remarks for Imran Khan as “worrying”. He also said that there is a threat to the internal security of India and Punjab seeing the love for Imran Khan by Sidhu and Channi the CM of Punjab

Navjot Singh Sidhu’s justification

Navjot Singh Sidhu refused to give any explanation on his behalf. He said “Let BJP say whatever it wants,” while interacting with the media. Rather while interacting with media, Sidhu tried to highlight the potential trade possible between Pakistan and India leading to economic prosperity.
