The time when Neena got dumped by a man at the ‘last moment’
Amid the conversation, Neena recalled being on the verge of marrying a man who she said cancelled the plans at the ‘last minute’, while she was shopping for clothes in Delhi. She said that till the date she doesn’t know the reason behind that act.
Adding further she said-
“That happened. But what can I do? I moved on. I would have loved to get married to him. I had a lot of respect for his father, mother. I was living in their house. He’s going to read, he’s alive, and he’s happily married. He has children.”
Neena told Kareena Kapoor Khan-
“While I was writing the book, I realised in my prime years I have been without a lover or husband. Because I came here, then small affairs, nothing really materialised. Basically, I was all alone. Even with Vivian, he was far away, he had his own life. We met very seldom.”
For a brief about Neena’s past relationship, Neena and cricketer Vivian Richards love affair was a topic of discussion in the industry circles as much as in the media back in the day. The two have a daughter, Masaba Gupta.

Neena on coping with relationship problems
She said that she wished a normal life and still feels envious when she sees people in regular relationships. Quoting further she says-
“People say I lived my life on my own terms. Actually, I never did. Wherever I went wrong, I accepted it and moved forward. I wanted to have a normal husband, children, and my in-laws. But, I did not blame, I did not become an alcoholic or go in a wrong direction because what I wanted I did not get.”

How Masaba once saved Neena’s life?
Neena, in the middle of the conversation recalled the most traumatic experience of her life. She opened up about the blast on the sets of Sanjay Khan’s serial The Sword of Tipu Sultan and how daughter Masaba Gupta saved her life during that phase.
Neena explained the whole situation, which read-
“It was a traumatic experience. They (the makers) were doing my wedding scene. Masaba was one-and-a-half years old. That day, Masaba had a little fever. So, I didn’t take her along on the sets. But later, in the afternoon, I sent back my car and I got her to the shoot. At that time, I was feeding her in between the shoot. I sneaked out of the studio. I reached my room.”
Adding further she then said that-
“I picked up Masaba and I heard a blast. When I came out, I saw a light man coming towards me. He was on fire. I was looking at him. He called me to help. I remember I said, ‘how can I help when I have a child with me.’ They took me to the main building where we had the office. We were sent home. It was too traumatic. Even now, when I think about it, I wonder how I got saved.”
“Wouldn’t have written the book if my parents were alive”, Why did Neena said this?
Kareena asked her about the way the Badhaai Ho actor talked about relationships in the book, especially her relationship with her parents. In the question’s context, Neena revealed that she wouldn’t have written the book if her parents were alive.
When Kareena asked if Neena was concerned of judgement after the book’s release, Neena confessed that-
“Nobody knew about my dad and my mom. I wouldn’t have written this if they were live because my mother suffered her whole life to hide those things. It used to bother me sometimes that people could say, ‘Oh, this is why she’s like this.’ Now I’m appreciated for my work. My husband and my daughter love me so I’m beyond that now.”
What’s the book is all about?
