Thanks to their jubilant efforts, Neeraj Chopra’s javelin, Lovlina Borgohain’s gloves have fetched Rs. 10 crs in ongoing e-auction. The e-auction is being organized by Indian government’s Ministry of Culture. Earlier, the triumphant Indian Olympians had given away their gear to PM Modi during a high-tea organized in honour of their brilliant performances.

For the unversed, the proceedings of the auction will go towards conservation of river Ganga under the Namami Gange Mission.

It seems as if it was just yesterday that Indian Olympians were winning accolades, one after the other at the Tokyo Olympics 2020. The 2020 Olympics was truly historic for the Indian contingent as it was the country’s best performance in the biggest sporting tournament in the world. In its best ever medal haul, India fetched 1 gold medal, 2 silver medals and 4 bronze medals.

After their performances, Indian Olympian medal winners received a warm welcome. They also participated in a high-tea organized by Prime Minister Narendra Modi.

In the high-tea, the medal winners gifted their gear to PM Modi. Later it was announced that the gifts will be available in an e-auction. The proceedings of which, would be used for the conservation of the Ganga River.

Neeraj Chopra’s Javelin – Rs. 10 Crores Bid Received (So Far)

India’s boy with golden arm Neeraj Chopra’s javelin has received the highest bid of Rs. 10 crores so far. The starting-price of the bid was Rs. 1 crores. On September 17, the second day of auction, bids soared as high as Rs. 10 crores.

Given that Neeraj became the second only Indian Olympian to have fetched a gold, and the first ever in javelin throw, the bid is expected to go much higher.

Lovlina Borgohain’s Boxing Gloves – Rs. 10 Crores Bid Received (So Far)

On her Olympics debut, Borgohain fetched a bronze medal after she came down fighting hard in her semi-final bout. After defeating Nien-Chin Chen, Lovlina secured a bronze for her country. She then fought the boxing top seed Busenaz Surmenli, but couldn’t go past her.

So far, her blue boxing gloves that she raised after winning the bout, has fetched bids up to Rs. 10 crores.

P.V. Sindhu’s Racket – Rs. 9 Crores Bid Received (So Far)

India’s ace shuttler P.V. Sindhu became the country’s first ever woman to win two Olympic medals. In the 2020 Olympics, she beat China’s He Bing Jiao to secure the bronze medal. She also created another record by being the second ever Indian athlete after wrestler Sushil Kumar to win 2 individual medals.

For her autographed racket, people have so far showed a lot of interest. The racket has received a bid of Rs. 9,00,00,000.

Rani Rampal’s Hockey Stick – Rs. 9 Crores Bid Received (So Far)

Indian women hockey team’s run at the Tokyo Olympics was historic. While the team couldn’t secure a medal, they played with all their might. They eventually secured the 4th position and missed the bronze medal by a nick.

For the entire women team’s autograph on team captain Rani Rampal’s hockey stick, the highest bid so far is Rs. 9,00,00,000.

Yogesh Kathuniya’s Discus– Rs. 10 Crores Bid Received ( So Far)

Indian government has also made available for the bid, the gear of Paralympian champions that made the country proud. The discus of Yougesh Kathuniya, who won a silver medal in the discus throw event, is available in the e-auction. So far, the red coloured discus has fetched Rs.10 crores in the bid.

Sumit Antil’s Javelin – Rs. 9.9 Crores Bid Received (So far)

Sumit Antil etched India’s name in history books by winning the gold in javelin throw F64 category and creating a world record of 68.55m. The autographed javelin has fetched Rs. 9.9 crores worth of bid so far.
