In the Nepal plane crash tragedy, at least 16 people are reported dead with several more feared dead. A plane with 72 passengers crashed recently with the final moments of the ill-fated plane crash surfacing on social media recently. The hair-raising video of the tragedy shows the plane descending rapidly without control and a huge sound of impact being heard after the plane crashed.
The ATR 72 aircraft from Yeti Airlines with 72 passengers, including four crew personnel, crashed earlier on Sunday in Nepal’s Pokhra, sometime around 11 am. Less than an hour after the plane crash, the Nepal Army spokesperson told media that at least 16 people are confirmed dead, with personnel conducting a search and rescue mission.
The flight took off from Kathmandu, and was flying for Pokhra when about 20 minutes after the take-off, it descended rapidly, and crashed a few kilometers from destination. The Yeti Airlines plane crashed into a forest area near the Seti Gandaki river that flows between an old airport and the new Pokhra International Airport.
Earlier in May 2022, a small plane with 22 passengers on board crashed near Lete hill in Nepal as well. The country has reported 27 fatal plane crashes in 30 years, of which 20 have occurred in the last 10 years.

Less than a year after 22 passengers died in Nepal after a plane carrying them crashed near the Lete hill, another shocking plane crash incident was reported from Nepal. In the most recent fatal plane crash, at least 16 people are reported dead, after a Yeti airplane with 72 passengers aboard crashed in Pokhran, a few kilometers away from where it was supposed to land.
After the horrific crash, social media has been flooded with videos showing the final moments of the ill-fated flight, and the immediate aftermath, where smoke is billowing from the crash site.

Videos Show Final Moments, Immediate Aftermath
In one of the several videos gone viral, the plane can be seen rapidly descending without any control and then crashing with a sound of huge boom coming from the tragic impact.

In another relatively longer video, several locals are gathered around the crash site, trying to take control over the intensifying fire coming from the crashed plane. Rescue personnel can also be seen trying to get near the plane but taking caution as the fire continues to burn and char the vegetation and trees near the crash site.

Airline Spokesperson Issues Statement
Following the crash, a Yeti Airlines spokesperson issued a statement that read – “A total of 68 passengers and four crew members were on board the Yeti airlines aircraft that crashed between the old airport and the Pokhara International Airport.”

Nepal PM Condoles Death
Nepal PM Pushpa Kamal Dahal also took to Twitter to condole the deaths of the passengers who died in the tragic plane crash. “I am deeply saddened by the sad and tragic accident of Yeti Airlines ANC ATR 72 which was flying from Kathmandu to Pokhara with passengers. I sincerely appeal to the security personnel, all agencies of the Nepal government and the general public to start an effective rescue,” his tweet read.
