The Delhi high court on Tuesday, said that they never asked the government to book 100 beds for the judges and their families, at a 5-star hotel (Ashoka Hotel). They also said that the government should take back its order or they will rescind it.
The court on the following order issued a notice to the Delhi government on the following suo motu case and will break down the matter on Thursday. The court also called the government’s decision ‘discriminatory’ and also that the government is not supposed to create any kind of facility which is exclusive for a particular class.
The high court told the government that, “When did we ask for a 100-bed facility at a five-star hotel? We had only said if a judicial officer or a judge or their family is infected, they should get hospital admission. Our concern is with respect to judicial officers in lower judiciary who have to hold court. We have already lost two judicial officers.”
Adding further they also presented the worries that, can the government imagine that how can they ask for something like this? People are not getting hospitals and they are asking you for beds in luxury hotels? The upset judges said that- “Media is not wrong. Your order is wrong”.

In response to this, the Delhi government said that there was no spite behind the move. It was the media that had created the assumption, it said, explaining that many hotels in the city had been turned into Covid facilities centres attached to hospitals.

The Court also asserted the government by saying that, “needs to pull up its socks to address aspects of distribution of not only liquid oxygen to the larger hospitals but also the oxygen in cylinders which is used by various smaller hospitals and nursing homes, apart from individuals”. The court also continued its everyday hearing on petitions filed on numerous aspects of Covid management in Delhi, including oxygen supply and transport, and testing.
The court asked the Arvind Kejriwal-led AAP government to get the information from all hospitals and nursing homes and submit the data, complete with all patient details, including name, time of death and reason of death.
