After a major meltdown by BTS ARMY, the band’s agency ‘Hybe’ clarified the major misunderstanding regarding the band breaking up and brought major relief to ARMY. Hybe issued the statement hours after BTS members announced that the band was going on an indefinite hiatus.
The bombshell announcement came during the FESTA 2022 Live Dinner. The misunderstanding regarding the band breaking up emerged after the word ‘hiatus’ came up in the subtitles of the announcement.
The word ‘hiatus’ was enough to open floodgates of emotions by shocked ARMY members (fans of the South Korean band). For the next few hours, BTS was trending on all social media platforms with fans pouring their hearts out.
Hours after the announcement, Hybe, the agency behind the South Korean boy band issued a statement and clarified that BTS is not taking a hiatus. “BTS are not taking a hiatus. Members will be focusing more on solo projects at this time,” the statement read.
For anyone living under the stone, BTS or Bangtan Boys is a septet, comprising of Jin, Suga, J-Hope, RM, Jimin, V, Jungkook. Established in 2010, BTS has won numerous accolades, including 24 Golden Disc Awards, 12 Billboard Awards, 9 American Music Awards and more.

Bangtan Boys or BTS dropped the mic which turned into a figurative bomb setting ablaze social media with emotional tributes. On Monday, the South Korean boy-band announced that it will be going on a ‘hiatus’ which will be healthy for the band. The band urged their fans to not take the view as something negative.
BTS Members on Band’s ‘Hiatus’
Jungkook, one of the most loved and adored members of the group, told his fans, “You were with us for almost 10 years. We’re each going to take some time to have fun and experience lots of things. We promise we will return someday even more mature than we are now.”
RM, another member of the septet boy-band said, “I felt like I needed time to spend on my own”, while Suga said, “It’s not like we’re disbanding”. Suga dropped a bombshell, about 29 minutes into the clip, “We’re going into a hiatus now”.
Hours after the announcement, shares of Hybe Co, the label that manages BTS, dropped as much as 28%, with 1.7 billion wiped off from its market value. The company’s value is down about 60% so far this year.
After social media was flooded with tribute messages by ARMY, the company issued a clarification and said that the band is not in fact taking a hiatus, and would work on projects both as group and individually. “BTS are not taking a hiatus. Members will be focusing more on solo projects at this time,” the statement read.

At the Festa Dinner 2022, BTS leader RM said. “I’ve changed as a human over the past 10 years, so I needed to think and have some alone time. Right now when we’re at our best I feel like I should be contributing something to the world, but I don’t know what that is.”
