In what can only be labelled horrific incident coming from Noida, a 3-year-old girl was raped and murdered by her grandmother’s lover for being “hindrance” in the duo’s relationship. The grandmother was 50 years old while her lover was 55 years old. After the incident, the 55-year-old accused was arrested while the 50-year-old woman was also detained.
According to reports, the victim lived with her grandmother as her mother and father were living separately due to disputes. Reportedly, the accused man belongs to Bulandshahr in Uttar Pradesh, and had been living at Noida. After the arrest, the man was booked under multiple sections of the Indian Penal Act and the Protection of Children from Sexual Offences (POCSO) Act, 2020.
Background
In September 2021, Uttar Pradesh Chief Minister Yogi Adityanath in one of his election campaign rallies was heard saying in his state everyone – buffalos, bulls or women – are safe. The Chief Minister’s words don’t quite match with the data coming from the NCRB report when it comes to crimes against children.
According to National Crime Records Bureau’s report for 2020, Uttar Pradesh reported the most number of sexual crimes against children. In 2020, as many as 47,221 cases of POCSO act were reported with Uttar Pradesh reporting 6,898 cases, a maximum among all the states and U/Ts.
When it comes to cybercrime being committed against children, Uttar Pradesh tops the chart in that category as well. With as many as 842 cybercrime cases against Children across the nation, Uttar Pradesh reported the maximum 170 cases in the category.
As the new year unfolds, a new horrifying report from Uttar Pradesh’s Noida has emerged where a 3-year-old girl child was the victim of a rape and murder.

The Facts of the Matter
The Noida Police on Monday, January 3, 2022, arrested a 55-year-old man for allegedly raping and murdering the granddaughter of his 50-year-old lover. According to reports, the accused believed the innocent child to be a “hindrance” in their relationship and future marriage. Reportedly, the girl was living with her grandmother as her father is in jail and mother resides in Budaun due to a dispute with her husband.
3-Year-Old Goes ‘Missing’, Grandmother Alerts Police
On December 25, the 50-year-old grandmother took to the police and told them that her 3-year-old granddaughter had been “missing” since a day. the police immediately filed a missing person’s report and initiated the search for the missing child.

Post-Mortem Reveals Horrific Details Of Crime
Three days later, on December 28, the police found the child’s dead body in Illahabas village at an under-construction building. An official involved in the case was quoted saying, “After investigation and post-mortem report, sexual assault against the child was confirmed. It was also confirmed that there had been an attempt to hide the evidence as the body was hidden under a log of plywood in the under-construction building.”
Grandmother Breaks Down During Interrogation
Working on its suspicion, the police interrogated the grandmother. During the interrogation the woman broke down and spilled the beans on horrific details of the case. She claimed that she was in a relationship with a man who stays in Noida since a long time but originally hails from the Bulandshahr district.

Grandmother Detained, Lover Arrested
The man and his lover hatched the plan to murder the young child as she was being a hindrance to their marriage. On Monday, the police finally arrested the man and further detained the woman.
Reportedly the accused has been charged under Section 302 (Punishment for murder), Section 376 (Punishment for rape), Section 377 (Unnatural offences) of the Indian Penal Code along with the POCSO Act, 2020.
