On Friday evening, Umesh Pal who was key witness in the 2005 case of murder was killed by unknown assailants. A shooter targeted him when he left his car, and others threw explosives. Two of the security personnel deployed by the Uttar Pradesh government were injured in the attack. Umesh Pal was taken to a hospital where he passed away during treatment. The condition of one of his bodyguards is unstable.
