A six-year-old girl was gang-raped and killed in Kanpur District, in Uttar Pradesh, on Sunday.
After she was raped, the rapist took out her lungs for performing black magic.
According to the police officials, the minor girl was taken to a forested area in the city where she was gang-raped and killed by unknown men.
ASP Brajesh Srivastava in his statement said the accused removed her lungs and gave them to the main plotter, Parshuram Kuril, to perform black magic, believing that it will help his wife give birth to a child.
On the night of Diwali, the girl went missing from the Ghatampur area. ASP Brajesh Srivastava informed that the accused arrested have been identified as Ankul Kuril (20 years) and Beeran (31 years).
He further added that, on Monday, Parshuram was arrested and his wife was also detained due to comprehension that she knew about the incident but did not speak to anyone about it.
ASP informed that Parshuram initially tried to mislead the police, but after facing intensive interrogation he broke down and confessed to his crime. Parshuram then told the police that he got married in 1999 but his wife was not able to conceive a child so far. Then he planned the entire scene and convinced his nephew, Ankul, and his friend Beeran, to kidnap the girl and remove her lungs.
Officer disclosed that the two who abducted, Ankul and Beeran, were heavily drunk, and while she had gone out of her home in Bhadras village on Saturday night to buy firecrackers, they took her to a nearby jungle, where they raped her and thereafter killed her.
The accused have been charged under the Indian Penal Code (IPC) and the Protection of Children from Sexual Offences (POCSO) Act.
Kanpur’s Deputy Inspector General of Police Preetinder Singh had informed that to confirm whether the girl was killed in an act of black magic, forensic experts and sniffer dogs were pressed into service to gather scientific evidence.
On the eve of Diwali, while her family was preparing for Diwali prayers, the girl went missing. As soon as the family realized they looked for her in all possible places including nearby areas, including the jungle, but failed to locate her during the night. On Sunday morning her body was found by some villagers passing through the jungle with her belongings, including her slippers and clothes near a tree, the DIG said.
Yogi Adityanath, the Chief Minister of U.P., has condemned this monstrous crime and directed officials to take stringent action against the accused. He has also extended a financial help of Rs five lakh to the victim’s family. He has said that the case would be heard in a fast-track court so that the accused can be punished at the earliest.
This is not the first time that such a heinous crime has been reported in India. Seems like it has become a trend and this is not a cool trend at all. Every other day you see news headlines like such. It’s devastating! If only we all could relate to it, could understand what mental, emotional, physical trauma that a person and that family go through, maybe then we can take steps from our end to stop such disgraceful acts.
The irony of this incident is that we glorify Diwali as the festival of lights denoting the win against evil, a day when we worship Goddess Lakshmi, the very day a girl was abducted and was rapped, disrespected with a thought that this will lure the god and will help them have a kid. These superstitions have already killed many, and God knows many more before we understand.
Rest in peace you little angel.
We are sorry.
