Sheikh Rasheed, a Pak Minister recently said that, “Pakistan’s win over India was Islam’s win”. Further the Pakistan interior minister also claimed that Muslims residing in India also supported Pakistan. The boasting and chest-thumping came after Pakistan defeated India by 10 wickets in the ongoing ICC T20 World Cup being held in UAE.

Pakistan’s victory came at a time when the team was surely an underdog, never being able to defeat India in 12 prior T20 encounters. After the victory, some Indian team fans unleashed their frustration on social media platforms like Twitter and Facebook, while some cooler heads congratulated Pakistan on its well-deserved victory.

The Babar Azam led Pakistan T20 squad registered a comfortable and commanding victory against the Virat Kohli led Indian T20 squad. Scoring just 151 runs in 20 overs, Indian players could not defend the target. Bowling remained mostly off the mark and the Pakistani openers won the game with 10 wickets and 3 overs to spare.

“The Way With Which Pakistan Defeated India..”

After Pakistan’s thumping victory, Pakistan’s interior minister Sheikh Rasheed Ahmed took to Twitter and made some incredibly boosting remarks. “Saari aalam-e-Islam ko fatehmubarak”, the Pak interior minister captioned the video.

“I would like to congratulate the entire Pakistani populous for this victory. I salute the way with which the Pakistani team defeated the Indian team,” Sheikh Rasheed said in his video message.

“Muslims in India Supported Pakistan”

He further added, “I regret that this is the first match that I couldn’t watch in the stadium due to national responsibility.”

Claiming that the nation considered the match played on October 24 as the final, Sheik said, “Today was our final. And Muslim’s across the world, and Muslims in India, were all in support of the Pakistan team”.

“Pakistan’s triumph against India is a victory of Islam. Victory to Pakistan, Victory to Islam”, the minister concluded his boastful speech.

Pak Interior Minister Receives Flak from Netizens

Netizens on Twitter were quick to criticize the Pakistani minister over his boastful remarks and the way he compared sports to religion.

Mohammed Shami Subjected to Online Abuse on Being Muslim

While Pakistan continued celebrating against India on its victory, Indian pace expert Mohammed Shami found himself being brutally trolled on Twitter. The 31-year-old pacer was unfortunately trolled on being an Islamic person who “deliberately” gave a bad performance against Pakistan.

The online trolls targeted Shami’s religious background and in several tweets and comments, asked him how much he sold himself for the game.

Meanwhile, former CM of erstwhile Jammu & Kashmir Omar Abdullah took to Twitter and urged team India to stand up for Mohammed Shami.

“#MohammedShami was one of 11 players who lost last night, he wasn’t the only player on the field. Team India your BLM knee taking counts for nothing if you can’t stand up for your team mate who is being horribly abused & trolled on social media,” tweeted Mr. Abdullah.
