Payal Rohatgi’s Long Relationship with Controvorsies

It should be noted that this is not the first time the actress has been part of the news for all the wrong reasons. In fact, Rohatgi has been known for her explosive and insensitive comments by netizens and Bollywood followers.

In 2019, Rohatgi was locked from Twitter for a brief period for communalising the Hyderabad gang-rape case. A year before that, when Kerala was dealing with the 2018 floods, Rohatgi took to Twitter to claim that the floods were God’s wrath due to slaughter of cows.

Rohatgi also met a lot of flak for dehumanizing social reformer Raja Ram Mohan Roy, who’s credited to have played a major role in the abolishment of Sati. According to Rohatgi, Roy was a traitor and Roy defamed the act of Sati.

The Nach-Baliye contestant was arrested in 2019 for posting objectionable content against the Nehru-Gandhi family. Rohatgi claimed that India’s first PM Jawaharlal Nehru was not the legitimate son of his father Motilal Nehru.

After her consistent objectionable remarks, she was banned from Twitter permanently.
