In a groundbreaking move that underscores the nation’s soaring ambitions, Prime Minister Narendra Modi on Monday unveiled a massive railway infrastructure blitzkrieg. Addressing the nation through a virtual event, the Prime Minister inaugurated, laid the foundation stone, and dedicated to the nation more than 2,000 railway projects, collectively valued at a staggering ₹41,000 crore.

Redevelopment of 553 Stations Under Amrit Bharat Scheme

Among the slew of initiatives, a standout was the Prime Minister’s laying of the foundation stone for the redevelopment of 553 railway stations across the country. These stations will undergo comprehensive upgrades under the ambitious Amrit Bharat Station Scheme, aimed at transforming them into modern, world-class transportation hubs.

Eastern Railway’s Share – 28 Stations in Three States

The Eastern Railway jurisdiction will witness a significant facelift, with 28 stations in West Bengal, Jharkhand, and Bihar slated for redevelopment under this scheme. The estimated cost for revamping these 28 stations stands at an impressive ₹704 crore. Notably, the historic Bandel station in West Bengal will receive the lion’s share of ₹307 crore, earmarked for its transformation into a state-of-the-art facility.

Symbolizing New India’s Work Ethic

Addressing the nation, PM Modi hailed the unprecedented scale and speed of these projects as a symbol of the “work culture of New India.” He emphasized that the country has shed its small aspirations and now dreams big, working tirelessly to realize those dreams at the earliest.

“Today’s programme is symbolic of New India’s work ethic. Now, India works with an unprecedented speed at an unprecedented scale,” the Prime Minister asserted.

Confident of Third Term, Surprising Scale of Work

Exuding confidence in returning for a third consecutive term, which will commence in June 2024, PM Modi stated that the remarkable scale and pace of work undertaken by his government have surprised many. He cited the recent launch of multiple development projects as a testament to his administration’s resolve.

“The scale and speed with which work has started is surprising everyone,” he said, adding that the increase in the budget due to the country’s growing economy will not have an impact on the ground if revenue leaks due to scams.

Transforming Indian Railways, Realizing Youth Dreams

PM Modi underscored the transformative journey of the Indian Railways over the past decade, highlighting the introduction of Vande Bharat trains, emphasis on cleanliness, and electrification of tracks. He also took a swipe at previous governments, alleging that his dispensation stopped the “loot of public money” and ensured that every penny earned was utilized in expanding railway services.

Concluding on an inspirational note, the Prime Minister affirmed, “I want to tell youngsters that their dreams are my resolve. Your dreams and hard work, and my resolve, are a guarantee of Viksit Bharat (Developed India).”
