In a tragic development, popular Marathi actor Pradeep Patwardhan, who acted in “Mee Shivaji Raje Bhosle Boltoy”, recently passed away at 64. Following his tragic news, newly appointed Maharashtra Chief Minister condoled Patwardhan’s death.

“Pradeep Patvardhan, the evergreen actor who ruled the hearts of the audience with his graceful acting in Marathi cinema, passed away tragically. With his departure, the Marathi art world has lost a great artist,” read CM Shinde’s tweet, written in Marathi.

According to reports, the Marathi actor passed away on Tuesday night at his residence in Mumbai. He suffered a heart attack, and the news of his death was confirmed on Tuesday by the All India Radio news.

Many prominent faces of the Indian entertainment industry mourned the loss of Patwardhan. Actor Vijay Patkar, who acted with him in the film Chashme Bahaddar and Lavu ka Laath, was quoted in a PTI reports saying, “He had some severe health issues but that was five years ago. He was actively working in the industry. It is shocking and disheartening news.”

Popular Marathi leader Supriya Sule, also condoled the Patwardhan’s demise, and expressed her grief. “Deeply saddened to hear about the demise of veteran Marathi actor Pradeep Patwardhan. Heartfelt condolences. My thoughts and prayers with his family members, fans, and followers,” she tweeted.

The Facts of the Matter

The Indian entertainment industry lost another prominent figure in the form of Pradeep Patwardhan, who passed away earlier today. The popular Marathi TV, film and theatre actor was 64 years old and suffered a heart attack. He took his last breath at his Mumbai residence.

Life and Times of Pradeep Patwardhan

According to reports, Patwardhan played parts in famous Marathi films Chashme Bahaddar, 1234, Ek Shodh. He also acted in Mahesh Manjrekar and Sachin Khedekar starring critically acclaimed Marathi film “Mee Shivaji Raje Bhosale Boltoy”.

Not only did he acted in various Marathi TV shows and films, he also acted in Marathi play ‘Moruchi Mavshi’. The play was written by prominent Marathi writer Pralhad Keshav Atre and was based on English play ‘Charley’s Aunt’.

The play was based on the lives of three college friends – Moru, played by Prashand Damle, Bhaiyya, brought to life by now deceased Pradeep Patwardhan, and Bandya, acted by Vijay Chavan.

Other Works of the Late Actor

Some of best works of Pradeep Patwardhan included Ful Chaar Half, Police Line. He was also part of Anurag Kashyap’s Bombay Velvet ensemble, which included the likes of Ranbir Kapoor, Anushka Sharma, Karan Johar, and Kay Kay Menon.

Following his tragic demise, social media was flooded by heartfelt tribute messages shared by fans and influential leaders.

Maha CM Eknath Shinde Mourns Loss

Newly appointed Maharashtra CM Eknath Shinde took to Twitter and wrote an elaborate message in Marathi, which was roughly translated as – “Pradeep Patvardhan, the evergreen actor who ruled the hearts of the audience with his graceful acting in Marathi cinema, passed away tragically. With his departure, the Marathi art world has lost a great artist.”

NCP, AAP Leader Condoles Death

Nationalist Congress Party leader Supriya Sule took to Twitter and wrote, “Deeply saddened to hear about the demise of veteran marathi actor Pradeep Patwardhan. Heartfelt condolences. My thoughts and prayers with his family members, fans and followers.”.

Meanwhile, Aam Aadmi Party spokesperson Preeti Sharma Menon took to Twitter and condoled the death of Patwardhan by a tweet which read – “#RIP Pradeep Patwardhan. He has been one of the most popular faces of Marathi Theatre, he will leave a huge gap.”
