In an inspiring turn-of-events, a Baltimore-based pregnant firefighter got in a car crash. While helping the other victim of the crash, she got in labour. Eventually, she admitted herself in hospital and delivered a baby, her third. The courageous woman, who put the life of her unborn child at risk was identified as Megan Warfield.
A firefighter with the Baltimore County, MD, Megan had been on administrative duty for the last few months, biding her time to welcome her child. About a week or so before her due date, she was returning after organizing her late father’s memorial event when she crashed in a significant car crash.
The nine-month-pregnant ignored all the voices that told her to fend only for herself, and began rescuing another person who was trapped in the overturned car. In her interview, she said, “I don’t know how I did what I did because the cramping was so bad. I must’ve just been running on adrenaline.”
“I was like, ‘What are you doing? You’re nine months pregnant,” she added.
Later, she admitted herself to the John Hopkins University Hospital, where she found out that she had induced labour due to the crash. 24 hours later, she gave birth to a baby girl Charlotte.
The Facts of the Matter
There’s no limit to human endevour and acts of kindness once a person is selfless and courageous. Case in point, Baltimore’s Megan Warfield, a firefighter with the Baltimore County, MD. Megan was reportedly nine-months pregnant when she got into a car crash.
Despite being in a condition where she herself needed help, Megan decided to rescue the other accident victim, and later got herself admitted to the John Hopkins University Hospital.

Pregnant Firefighter Gets Into Crash
Megan’s courageous action was hailed by Bowleys Quarters Volunteer Fire Department. In a Facebook post, the fire department hailed her as “a true public servant”.
“Megan has been serving in an administrative capacity for the past several months patiently waiting on the birth of her child. Just a week or so shy of her due date, Megan had just finished organizing and hosting her late father’s 2nd annual memorial golf tournament when she was involved in a significant motor vehicle collision,” the Facebook post read.

Rushing to help Other Accident Victim
Unlike most people, who would leave the accident victim on their own, Megan rushed to rescue the passenger of the other car which had overturned. In her interview to NBC morning show, Warfield said, “I don’t know how I did what I did because the cramping was so bad. I must’ve just been running on adrenaline.”

Committed to the idea of rescuing the trapped passenger, she climbed the car and held on to the trapped victim. She made sure that the accident victim didn’t move a lot, so as to not put herself at the risk of other injuries.
Until emergency responders arrived, Megan calmed the accident victim and gave her the much needed on the spot care. “It was … important that I keep her calm. It was a pretty traumatic event.”
Checking Self in Hospital, Delivering Baby Girl
After the emergency responders arrived, Megan left the scene and checked herself into the Johns Hopkins Hospital. During the checkup, she found out that she had been in labour when she was involved in the crash.
A day later, the brave firefighter welcomed a healthy baby girl Charlotte.

Firefighter Dept Appreciates Megan
In the Facebook post, the Bowleys Quarters Volunteer Fire Department thanked Megan and stated, “Congratulations Momma Megan, Job Well Done!”. In the comments section of the same post, Megan’s boyfriend Joshua, a paramedic himself thanked people for their support.
“Thank you, everyone, for the out pour of support. Baby CJ is doing great! Megan is resting up and can’t wait to be back in the field doing what she loves!” he commented.
