Actress Preity Zinta and husband Gene Goodenough welcomed their twin children Jai and Gia through surrogacy. The actress took to her social media platforms to share the good news with her fans and followers. Zinta in one of her tweets said that her husband and she were “overjoyed and our hearts are filled with so much gratitude & so much love as we welcome our twins Jai Zinta Goodenough and Gia Zinta Goodenough into our family”.

For the uninitiated, Zinta tied knots with Gene Goodenough back in February 2016. Since then, she has been on a hiatus when it comes to acting in films. While Preity’s children arriving through surrogacy may surprise people, it should be noted that several celebrities such as Shahrukh Khan, Aamir Khan, etc have chosen to have kids through surrogacy.

Background

The joy of parenthood is unparalleled and something that is beyond words. However, some couples, due to several biological and other factors, are unable to have their own child. Thanks to modern marvels of medical science, now parents can go for surrogacy and IVF to have a little one that they can call their own. Surrogacy is also becoming an interesting choice for people who are in same-sex relationships, but want to have a child of their own.

Like every unregulated sector, even the surrogacy sector is looked at two polarizing ways. While pictures of celebrities thanking their surrogate partner for the little one go viral, there are people who raise concerns over surrogate mothers who get into the “business” of surrogacy for money.

Meanwhile, Bollywood celebrity Preity Zinta and her husband Gene Goodenough welcomed twins Jai and Gia through surrogacy.

Bollywood Celebs Who Welcomed Kids Through Surrogacy

It’s not just Preity and Gene that have gone the surrogacy route to welcome their children. Several prominent Bollywood celebrities in the past have gone the same route and have spoken in favour of surrogacy.

Mr. Perfectionist aka Aamir Khan welcomed Azad Rao Khan when he was married to Kiran Rao. Reportedly, to make things easier on themselves, the couple chose for surrogacy after Kiran had a miscarriage during pregnancy.

Bollywood filmmaker Karan Johar is a proud single parent of a son and daughter he welcomed through surrogacy. Back in March 2017, he had announced that he is the proud father of twins. The filmmaker named his children – Roohi and Yash. While Yash is the name sake of Karan’s father Yash Johar, Roohi is an anagram of Hiroo, Karan’s mother.
