Priyanka Chopra Jonas has recently given a virtual interview to Oprah Winfrey on her popular talk show ‘Super Soul’. In the interview, Priyanka revealed that she was mistreated by a Bollywood director during the early days of her career. The director asked her to give a sensual dance performance and strip down to her underwear on the movie set. However, she didn’t disclose the name of the director.

Priyanka still regrets that she didn’t oppose the director because she was new in the film industry and very scared at that time. But she left the movie the next day.

Priyanka said, “I was so scared. I was new in the entertainment business and girls are always told that ‘you don’t want to get a reputation of being hard to work with.’ So, I worked within the system. And that’s my regret is that I never stood up to him and said, ‘What you did was wrong because I was scared but the only way, I knew how to deal with it was just to step away from it and have grace under fire. And that’s what I did.”

In the interview with Oprah, Priyanka Chopra talked about Nick Jonas. She said that I didn’t take Nick very seriously when he was sending text messages to me. I was 35 and I want to get married, I want to have kids. Nick was in his 20s, I don’t know if that’s something he would want to do. But when I went out with him, I realised that I judged a book by its cover. She also said that Nick is a self-assured man, so sensible, so excited about my achievements and my dreams.

In the interview, Priyanka Chopra also opened about the racial bullying she faced at an American high school when she was 16 years old. She said “High school is hard anywhere, right? And to be coming of age, to understand your body as a woman and to be devalued for something I can’t change or I wasn’t even aware of the fact that this was something I should feel embarrassed about.” “When I was made to feel like, did my clothes smelled funny or did people smell curry or you know little things like that at 16 are so detrimental to a sense of self-worth, your sense of self. It’s just being mean, trying to hurt someone.” The bullying incident had caused such a deleterious effect on Priyanka that she decided to leave America and came to India with her mom.

Priyanka Chopra spoke to Oprah about her recently released memoir titled “Unfinished” which gives a glimpse into the fascinating and uncovered journey of PC.
