It’s going to rain money during the upcoming PUBG Global Championship that has a prize pool of Rs. 13 crore. While winners are to get Rs. 4 crore, the final 8 teams will also go home with a handsome amount of Rs. 7 lakh. The PGC (PUBG Global Championship) is scheduled to be held from November 19 to December 19. The gaming tournament will see a total of 32 teams across the world who have qualified as the best PUBG esports team. The 32 teams will take a shot at the winning place, for which they will receive a whopping Rs. 4.5 crore. Interestingly, this year the tournament will be operated on a hybrid system of LAN and Online. While teams from China will play online, other teams will be playing from Incheon, South Korea.


PUBG and Fortnite are two games which feature the battle royale mode and have gotten so popular that it has spawned a slew of games that feature the same playing mode. PUBG or Player Unknown’s Battlegrounds launched way back in December 2017 internationally on Steam. In 2018, the game was released on both Xbox and PlayStation.

However, the game reached to its pinnacle when it comes to popularity when it launched its android version. As of March 2021, the mobile version of the game had amassed 1 billion downloads and clocked in $6.2 billion in revenue as of August 2021.

India, which has banned PUBG citing addiction as the main reason, became the melting point of a casual gamers, streamers and professional gamers. In 2020, it was revealed that India had the highest number of downloads for PUBG with 175 million installations.

The Facts of the Matter

After the cancellation of the PGC 2020 due to the COVID-19 pandemic, the event is all set to kick off from November 19. Fans of PUBG will be able to see the greatest of greatest players fight it out from tomorrow at 9:10 AM IST.

Winning Team Will Get Rs. 4.5 Crores

The championship will feature 32 teams from across the world fight it out for a whole month for a prize pool of a whopping $2 million. The winning team will get the chunk of the pool ($6,00,000), while the teams achieving the second and third position will be awarded with $290,000 and $150,000.

The game will shift its model to a complete online to a LAN/Online system. While 5 of the 32 teams will play online, the remaining teams will be going to Paradise City in Incheon, Korea.

PUBG Global Championship 2021 Structure

Much akin to most PUBG tournaments, the Rank Decision matches will decide which team will play on the 1st position and which on the 32nd. The teams will fight it out in survival games where the winning teams will play in the ‘Weekly Final’.

The best 9 teams from the Weekly Finals will be placed in the grand finals. Moreover, a Grand Survival will also be held between 19 teams, which will exclude the teams that have already been placed in the finals.

The final 16 teams will fight it out for the championship. The Grand Final will be held for 3 days and 5 matches will be played per day. The failed teams will be ranked as per their points accumulated from the Weekly Finals.

Most Kills & Lowest Ranking Team To Also Get Handsome Reward

Along with a delicious prize fund, the organizers will also reward players with most kills ($10,000). Along with that, the impressive team award will be given to the team which has a prize of $20,000.

Interestingly, it’s not just a winner-takes-it-all championship. The lowest rankings team will also go home with $10,000 each.
