A waiter working at an eatery in Pune died after a customer fatally thrashed him over the trivial reason of finding ‘rice grains’ in the mutton soup that he had ordered. The accused has been held in the matter, and an investigation is being conducted. The incident was reported from Pune’s Pimple Saudagar and occurred earlier on Wednesday.

The victim in the horrific incident has been identified as 19-year-old Mangesh Sanjay Poste. The matter came to the fore after an employee of the restaurant filed a police complaint against the customer involved in the incident. While the deceased was thrashed to death, the owners of the eatery, Ajit and Sachin, also sustained injuries from the hand of the accused.

The two accused, Punit Sachdev and Vijayraj Waghire, residents of Pimpri, had gone to the restaurant and had ordered a mutton soup. While at the restaurant, the accused, who were allegedly drunk, spotted some grains of rice in the mutton soup, which infuriated them.

The accused started hurling abuses at the waiter and other staffers of the eatery. Soon, the argument escalated to a point of no return and attacked the victim Mangesh with wooden sticks. Mangesh sustained an injury on his head, and died due to the same.

The two accused were initially absconding, but were later arrested.

Rage-fueled incident of crimes over trivial reasons are on a concerning upswing lately. From parking spot related quarrel, to murder prompted by quarrel over Wi-Fi password, such incidents are shedding light on the pent-up aggression among citizens of the country. In yet another incident of senseless violence which caused a youth’s death, a duo was arrested after they beat a waiter down to his death over “rice” in the mutton soup they were served.

The most recent incident was reported from Pune and occurred earlier on Wednesday at eatery located in Pune’s Pimple Saudagar.

Victim of Senseless Killing a 19-Year-Old Youth

The deceased in the incident has been identified as Mangesh Koste (19), a Jalna native and the accused in the case have been identified as Punit Sachdev and Vijayraj Waghire.

Earlier on Wednesday morning, Punit and Vijayraj took to a local eatery and ordered a mutton soup. The duo, reportedly drink, spotted some grains of rice in the soup that they had ordered. Enraged over the quality of the food they were served, the accused picked up a quarrel.

Accused Enraged Over ‘Rice in Mutton Soup’

The accused started hurling abuses at the staffers of the eatery and the argument escalated further as both the staffers and accused engaged in a brawl. 19-year-old Mangesh Koste, who worked as a waiter in the restaurant, suffered the consequence of the quarrel as the accused started thrashing him with wooden sticks.

Inspector Sunil Tambe of the Sangvi police was quoted in a TOI report saying, “When Poste retorted, one of them grabbed him. The other picked up a wooden stick and started assaulting him. They assaulted him on the head. They assaulted Mutkule and Bhawar, too. Poste succumbed to injuries.”

Restaurant Owner Sustains Injury, Accused Booked

Staffers at the restaurant and other customers tried to intervene, and were assaulted by the accused as well. The owner of the restaurant, 32-year-old Ajit Mutkule and Sachin Subhas Bhawar, too got injured in the brawl.

A 21-year-old employee of the restaurant, Vishal Rajale, took to the local police and filed a complaint based on which an FIR was registered. The accused were later booked under multiple sections of IPC, including 302 (punishment for murder).
