Indian-origin Neha Narkhede, who hails from Pune, recently made it to Hurun’s list of youngest “self-made” women in India. At 37, Neha is the co-founder of Confluent, a streaming platform, and has also attained the 8th position in the top 10 richest Indian women. With a net-worth of a jaw-dropping Rs 13,380 crores, she is the most recent entrant in the list of India’s wealthiest women.
While her net worth is over Rs 13,000 crores, her wealth is estimated at Rs. 4,700 crores and she attained 336 ranks in the IIFL Hurun India Rich List.
According to reports, Neha Narkhede was born in Pune and migrated to US to have a career in US. She did her Masters from Georgia Tech after completing her graduation from Pune University.
Prior to starting her own company, she was with LinkedIn and Oracle. She and her team developed Apache Kafka software which LinkedIn makes use of to give its users a more personalized experience.
The list by Hurun India and IIFL Wealth was shared earlier on September 21.
The list showed a never-before 735 entrepreneurs, who account to 67% of the list, to be self-made, compared to 659 such entrepreneurs in 2021. There are as many as 1,103 individuals in the list from 122 cities.

While the name ‘Gautam Adani’ is becoming a force to be reckoned with in the world of business, there’s a new Indian name that recently emerged in the Hurun India list. India-origin Neha Narkhede recently made it to the list of being one of the youngest “self-made” women.

At 37, she is currently serving as the co-founder of streaming platform Confluent. In June 2021, Confluent made buzz for becoming public at a valuation of $9.1 billion. Earlier in 2020, she was in Forbes list of America’s Self-Made Women.
According to the recently shared IIFL Wealth Hurun India Rich List, Neha Narkhede is the youngest self-made woman to be also feathered in the India’s Rich List. With an estimated net worth of over Rs. 4,700 crores, she currently ranks 336 in the India Rich List.
Born and brought up in Pune, Maharashtra, Neha completed her graduation from Pune Institute of Computer Technology from the University of Pune. She then migrated to US to have a career in technology. In US, she completed her master’s at the Georgia Tech and entered into the world of zeros and ones.
Working with Oracle, LinkedIn
Prior to founding Confluent, she worked in Oracle as a principal software engineer. She then worked for LinkedIn where she led the streams infrastructure team. It was while working at LinkedIn that Neha created Apache Kafka with two co-founders Jun Rao and Jay Kreps.
Since then, there was no looking back for Neha. In 2014, she and her co-founders started Confluent. A Palo-Alto startup, Confluent is an open-source Apache Kafka real-time messaging which is used by Uber, Cisco, Netflix, etc, for real-time data analysis.

In the past, Neha has been on the receiving end of several prestigious awards and achievements. Back in 2017, MIT listed her as one of the best innovators under 35. In 2018, she was listed as World’s top 50 women in tech by Forbes. She also won the Oracle Groundbreaker Award and in October 2020, she was in ‘America’s Self-Made Women’ list by Forbes.
