India’s real money gaming startup GetMega was officially launched on March 14. It has raised more than $9 million in funding from investors like Accel India and Nexus Ventures Partner. GetMega has 5 million users and it aims to reach 50 million users by the end of 2021.

Recently, GetMega launched a marketing campaign including 200 YouTube influencers to promote its gaming app. The startup expects to get 1 million more users through this campaign.

GetMega was founded by two IIT Kanpur Computer Science graduates – Mayank Kumar and Lokesh Jangid in 2018. They also developed a logistics startup Opinio in 2015 to delivers food, grocery, and bakery from local businesses to customers. Opinio was acquired by a health and fitness startup Cure.Fit in 2017.

GetMega combines the entertainment experience of gaming with the thrill of real money. It offers several skill-based games including:

  • Card games like Poker and Rummy
  • Casual games like Carrom and Pool
  • Trivia games like GK questions and 123

Users can play their favourite games with their friends and win exciting real cash rewards. Players can also turn on their audio and video for a real-life gaming experience. GetMega is currently available for download on Android and is expected to be available on iOS in the next few months.

GetMega is securing a strong foothold within the Indian gaming industry which is expected to grow from $1.1 billion in 2019 to $2.8 billion in 2022. India has recently witnessed a surge in skill-based real-money gaming startups.

The gaming startups include:

  • Mobile Premier League (MPL) – MPL is a mobile eSports gaming platform that offers skill-based games like rummy, chess, fantasy sports, quiz, fruit chop, and many more. Android and iOS users can download the app from Play Store.
  • Dream11 – Dream11 has over 10 crore users. They can play games based on a real-life sport such as cricket, football, hockey, kabaddi, and basketball. Users can create their team and compete with other players for a match. The winning team gets big prizes. Dream11 is available to download on Android and iOS phones.
  • PayTM First Game – Users can win up to Rs. 5 crores daily by playing rummy, fantasy sports, poker, ludo, clash royale, quiz, action, and racing games. The winning amount is instantly transferred into the user’s Paytm wallet. Paytm said that the game is 100% safe and secure.
  • WinZO – It is a mobile gambling platform available in WinZOBaazi, Tournaments, and Team Tournaments formats.
  • Nazara technology – Nazara is a diversified gaming and sports media platform. It has launched its initial public offer (IPO) a few days ago and received a positive response.
