According to official numbers from the NTA, the February session of JEE Main 2021 was observed in 331 cities spread across India. Additionally, there were 9 non-Indian cities- Colombo, Dubai, Singapore, Kuwait, Muscat, Riyadh, Kathmandu, Doha and Sharjah.

At these examination centers, a team of 742 observers, 19 regional coordinators, and two national coordinators were employed to make sure that students face no troubles during the post-COVID-19 examination phase.

This year, the examination was held for 2 papers in both BE and B.Tech streams. While on Monday, the results of only the first paper of BE/B tech were announced, the results of the second paper is expected to be dropped soon.

As for how the papers were scored, the NTA states that the JEE-Main score is a normalized score across the multi-session papers and are not based on just the marks received by a candidate, but on the relative performances of all the candidates that appeared for that examination. Based on the relative scoring, the marks are then categorized on a scale of 0-100.

This year, the exam also saw another interesting change. Candidates had the option to give the JEE-Main in their regional languages. Although most candidates opted to appear for the exam in the widely recognized and understood the English language, there were over 45,000 students who took the JEE-Main in Indian Language. Over 23,000 candidates chose Hindi, while over 21,000 students chose their regional languages which included as Assamese, Gujarati, Marathi, Punjabi, Telugu and Urdu.

In the February session of the JEE-main, the candidates had the option to attempt 75 questions out of the available 90. The paper was divided into 3 sections which included chemistry, physics and mathematics, each having 25 questions each. The remaining 15 alternative questions came with no negative marking which made it an interesting choice for students who wanted to have an extra edge over other students.
