In June 2020, following the death of Sushant Singh Rajput, various authorities began to investigate the case. These included the Mumbai Police, the Enforcement Directorate (ED), Central Bureau of Investigation (CBI), and Narcotics Control Bureau (NCB). Rhea was detained by the NCB in September 2020 for her involvement in an associated drug case. After staying in Mumbai’s Byculla jail for a month, she was given bail in October of that same year.
