In a recent CCTV footage gone viral on social media, robbers were seen stealing a whopping sum of Rs 40 lakhs from a biker’s bag at a traffic signal, all in complete public view. The incident took place at a traffic signal near Delhi’s Red Fort, and after an investigation was kicked off, two robbers involved in the incident were arrested. The incident took place on the evening of March 1.

The video of the incident shows three men slyly trailing a motorcyclist with heavy traffic on both sides. The motorcyclist along with other vehicles, stopped his vehicle owing to the red light on the signal. With lightning speed, the trio closed in on the clueless rider, and in a flash, one of them unzipped the backpack strapped to his shoulders.

Within seconds, the skilled thief had snatched the package containing cash from the bag and passed it on to his accomplices. The entire brazen act was executed with astonishing precision and swiftness, and before anyone could even react, the robbers scrambled away.

The rider was identified as Umesh Kumar. Umesh Kumar works as an assistant for LN International LLP, was asked by the owner to deliver Rs 40 lakh to a friend in North Avenue, Delhi. The incident took place when he was on his way to deliver the money.

The Facts of the Matter

Robbers are often known to use sleight of hand techniques to steal from people. They use their reflexes to quickly and quietly remove items such as wallets, phones, and other valuables from unsuspecting victims without being noticed. In one such incident that took place earlier on March 1 in national capital, robbers stole cash worth Rs 40 lakhs from a man without him noticing.

Had it not been for the CCTV footage that recently surfaced on social media, one would not have been able to see just how quickly these robbers committed their theft.

What Does the Video Show?

In the midst of chaotic Delhi traffic, CCTV captured the theft of three men as they closely trailed a motorbike, like predators stalking their prey. The bike slowed down as it reached a busy traffic signal, hemmed in by vehicles on all sides. Seizing the moment, the three men sprang into action. In a flash, they approached the unsuspecting rider, who was oblivious to their presence.

With lightning speed, one of the men unzipped the backpack the rider had slung over his shoulder. Without missing a beat, he deftly pulled out the package of cash, passing it on to his cohorts. All of this unfolded in the blink of an eye, as locals darted across the street with cars on both sides, waiting for the signal to turn green. The audacious thieves vanished as swiftly as they had appeared

Biker Worked a Company, Was En-Route to Give Cash

According to an ANI report, the motorcyclist was Umesh Kumar, who works for a man named Aneesh, as an assistant for a company that sends MBBS aspirants to foreign colleges. Earlier on March 1, the owner asked him to take Rs 40 lakhs and hand it over to his friend in Delhi’s North Avenue. After he felt that his bag was lighter, the accused quickly rushed to the local police, and a complaint was registered.

Investigation Ensues, Accused Caught

An investigation was soon kicked off, and the police started analysing technical surveillance footage. They also started interrogating their informants and other locals in the area. During the investigation, the police got to know that the accused would be coming with the money to a bus stop, with plans of leaving for Shimla. After laying the trap, the cops arrested two of the three accused. They also seized Rs 38 lakhs of the Rs 40 lakhs that were stolen.
