Expedia has reported a 55 per cent increase in searches for hotels in Bucharest, Romania, after the release of the Netflix show, Wednesday. Euronews has reported a great increase in interest towards Romanian attractions which were featured on the series, leading to a rise of tourism in the country, as stated on SchengenVisaInfo.com.

People who are fans of Wednesday can experience where the series was filmed by visiting the Buftea studios in Romania near Bucharest. The ghost town of Jericho and Nevermore Academy were both set up at these studios. According to the INS, the total number of visitors to Romania increased by 21.8% in 2022 to reach 11.3 million, a statistic that was released by the statistical office.
According to INS, visitors to Romania spent a total of 24.3 million nights in the country last year, which was an increase of 17.8 percent from the previous year. Furthermore, an estimated 1.5 million foreign tourists visited Romania during 2022, a rise of 88.1 percent compared to 2021.

Tourism in Romania was greatly affected by the COVID-19 pandemic, with Statista data showing that the number of arrivals in tourist accommodations in 2020 dropping to 6.34 million from the record high in 2019 of 13.37 million.
