Samrat Prithviraj has been surrounded by controversy since the movie’s announcement. From the Indian ruler’s ethnicity to the Shree Rajput Karni Sena’s demand for a title revision, the film has received backlash from political people. Finally, it is presented on big screens.  Akshay Kumar’s period drama is technically impressive in every way, but the film lacks in the execution of the plot. The film Samrat Prithviraj, presented by Aditya Chopra’s Yash Raj Films, has recently been declared tax-free in three BJP-ruled states: Uttar Pradesh, Madhya Pradesh, and Uttarakhand.

Details

The film, featuring Akshay Kumar, depicts the saga of Prithviraj Chauhan, the famed warrior emperor. It’s a movie about warfare and bravery, which both demand less polemics and more action. The movie also makes a powerful appeal for women’s rights and gender equality, giving full credit to Princess Sanyogita’s outspoken persona.

Moreover, the film’s handling is equivalent to that History professor rushing through Prithviraj’s tale in order to finish the topic in one lesson.

Storyline

Samrat Prithviraj, a film featuring Akshay Kumar, is modeled on Chand Bardai’s Prithviraj Raso, a 13th-century classic poem that garnered fame in the nineteenth century. Samrat Prithviraj’s main objective is to showcase the traits of a Hindu warrior-king who is faithful to his Dharma and Watan.

Samrat Prithviraj Review: Script Analysis

The writing and portrayals are the shortcomings of Samrat Prithviraj. In terms of content, the movie is only mediocre. In the middle of an invading Sultan who thinks nothing of stooping to deception, “Fareb Aur Makkari,” Samrat Prithviraj hails a fair-minded king who exhibits remarkable bravery and patience.

The soul of this Akshay Kumar starrer is relatively poor, except from a few monumentally-scaled battle shots stunningly caught by Manush Nandan’s camerawork.

Samrat Prithviraj Review: Star Performance

Akshay Kumar did a fine job in the part of Samrat, but he lacked a much better physique to carry it off. Manushi doesn’t convey the impression that this is her debut film, and she enacted a sophisticated part. Sonu Sood’s performance as a poet and Samrat’s friend was good, however his prophecies anticipate the plot and contain spoilers. Sanjay Dutt as Kaka was cast appropriately for his age and delivered a powerful performance with well-written dialogues. Sakshi Tanwar played a modest but significant role in Sanyogita’s advocacy. Manav Vij’s portrayal of Mohammed Gauri draws comparisons to Padmawat’s Ranveer Singh, although Mohammed Gauri does not appear a cruel invader with dangerous face. While trapping Samrat Prathviraj, he demonstrates cunning. Ashutosh Rana appears to be underutilized in a limited role.

Samrat Prithviraj Review: Direction and Music

Dr. Chandraprakash Dwivedi’s direction is amazing. He adds elements to the film that push it to notch higher. The visual effects are just spectacular. The war scenes in the films are spectacular and stunning, but they fit in a Baahubali movie instead of a story about historical heroes. None of Shankar Ehsaan Loy’s melodies are very engaging and memorable. The title track is unsettling at times. Moreover, the set and costume design are decent.

Altogether, Samrat Prithviraj is an excellent family drama that is finely acted and directed. It will transport you back to a golden period in our nation’s history.
