While police personnel are known to champion public causes, there are times when they are so dazzled by the glory of a celebrity that they toss all the professional ethics aside. Something similar to that happened on June 25, when a group of Delhi police officials had a brilliant photo-op session with wrestler-turned-murderer, Sushil Kumar.
After the pictures made their way to social media, they went viral and the netizens were outraged on the unprofessional behaviour shown by the police.

‘Mask off – Smile on’
The photographs have Sushil posing with a huge smile on his face, wearing a red t-shirt, casual track pants and slippers. Surprisingly, Kumar is not seen in police-handcuffs, neither is he seen wearing a face-mask to save himself and others from contracting the deadly COVID-19. Similarly, police officials also pose with him without wearing masks or adhering to COVID-19 appropriate behaviour.

The Sushil Kumar Story So Far
He was earlier lodged in the Mandoli jail and was shifted to Tihar Jail number 2 on Friday this week. Kumar and his colleagues had allegedly assault fellow wrestler Sagar Dhankar at the Chhatrasal stadium, which led to the latter’s death. While the true motive of the clash is still under scrutiny, it has been reported that the two sides clashed at the Stadium over a property dispute. The incident happened on May 4 and 23-year-old Sagar succumbed to his injuries.
As per the police, Sagar and his colleagues were living in a house near the Chhatrasal stadium. The house, as per the reports, was linked to Sushil Kumar. Sagar was told by Sushil and his friends to vacate the property, which led to a physical altercation between both the sides.
