Bollywood superstar Shah Rukh Khan has been provided with enhanced Y+ category security by the Maharashtra government following alleged threats received by the actor. Eleven security personnel, including six commandos and four police officers, have been deployed for his safety.

Controversies Surrounding Recent Films

Shah Rukh Khan filed a written complaint to the state government claiming he had received threatening calls after the release of his recent films – action thriller Pathaan and espionage drama Jawan.

Pathaan faced opposition from certain Hindu right-wing groups over accusations of vulgarity regarding Deepika Padukone’s outfits in the song Besharam Rang. However, the film went on to become a massive box office hit. Jawan, Khan’s first pan-India film, has also received praise and commercial success since its September release.

Security Team Stationed at Residence

According to sources, the committee assessing Khan’s threat perception recommended upgraded security measures in a recent high-level meeting. The personnel will be stationed at the actor’s Mumbai residence, Mannat, to provide round-the-clock protection.

Traffic clearance vehicles have also been provided for swift mobility. The precautionary steps have been taken considering serious “imminent and probable” threats to Khan’s safety.

Previous Security Lapses

This development comes a few months after security was increased around Mannat following protests against celebs endorsing online gaming apps in August.

Earlier in March, two men had managed to trespass Mannat by climbing the boundary wall, raising questions about possible security breaches. They were nabbed in time by the guards on duty.

Shah Rukh Khan’s Upcoming Films
