Pace expert Shardul Thakur got ‘bowled over’ recently and got engaged to his longtime girlfriend Mittali Parulkar. The CSK all-rounder and Mittali got engaged in Mumbai earlier on November 29, Monday. The event was an intimate ceremony with only the closest of both Shardul and Mittali were invited. However, the event was graced with Indian skipper Rohit Sharma and other dignitaries. Reportedly, the pace expert got engaged at the Bombay Kurla Complex’s MCA (Mumbai Cricket Association) with some 70-75 guests. While it hasn’t been confirmed as to when Shardul and his to-be bride Mittali will get married, a news report confirmed that the couple will get married in 2022.

It should be noted that 2021 saw several sportspersons get engaged or married. This includes Sunrisers Hyderabad player Vijay Shankar, Mumbai Indians and Indian team pace expert Jasprit Bumrah and more.

The Facts of the Matter

A day after the wedding of popular YouTuber Dhruv Rathee set the social media ablaze, it was reported that Shardul Thakur was engaged. The Indian pacer got engaged to his longtime girlfriend Mittali Parulkar.

The event was held at the BKC’s Mumbai Cricket Association facility. A Zee News report confirmed that the event was a small intimate ceremony with just 75 attendees which included the close friends, family and relatives of both Shardul and Mitalli.

Shardul To Get Married After T20 World Cup

A Times of India report quoted a source that claimed that the couple will get married sometime in 2022 after the Men’s T20 World Cup that’s scheduled to happen in Australia. After India’s disappointing run at the 2020 T20 World Cup, Shardul would love to give a match-winning performance as a gift to his fiancé.

As mentioned earlier, the engagement ceremony was a small intimate affair. Yet, it was star studded with Indian T20 skipper Rohit Sharma, Mumbai Indian players Aditya Tare, and former Indian team player Abhishek Nayar.

Mittali Owns a Startup Called All the Bakes

While not much is known about Mittali, it’s being reported that she runs a startup called All the Bakes in Thane. In the wedding, Mittali wore a traditional red-coloured saree while Shardul complemented with a green-coloured kurta. The wedding was also attended by Malti Chahar, the sister of Deepak and Rahul Chahar.

Who Else Got Married in 2021?

After the year of doom and gloom – 2020 – a lot of cricketers took the leap of faith by either getting engaged or married in 2021. The streak of lovely union started with Vijay Shankar getting married to Vaishali Visweswaran back in January 2021.

A part time teacher, Vaishali met his to-be husband through arranged marriage arrangement back in 2020. The same year, the couple got engaged. For the unversed, Vijay Shankar was part of the official World Cup 2019 squad that played in England and crashed out at the semifinal. He also plays for Sunrisers Hyderabad.

The rumours of Bumrah getting married were ripe when he was released from the squad from the 4th India VS England Test in February.

Before Bumrah, Indian pacer Jaydev Unadkat also got married in an intimate ceremony back in February. Taking to Twitter, Jaydev wrote, “It gives us great joy in sharing that our wedding took place on 2nd of February, 2021 in an intimate ceremony with family and friends.”
