On Monday, Shilpa Shetty’s Husband and Businessman, Raj Kundra, was arrested by the Mumbai police in a case related to alleged creation of pornographic movies and publishing them through some apps without any proper consent.
The Reason for Which Kundra Is Arrested
Raj Kundra got arrested by the Crime Branch after being booked under relevant sections of the IPC and the Information Technology Act appears to be the key lead of the case.
According to a report, the cops filed two FIRs and are suspecting nine people since last week for allegedly “forcing” actors to shoot nude scenes for pornographic films. The report further stated that these films were released and streamed on paid mobile applications.
The Mumbai police Commissioner, Hemant Nagrale said in a statement that-
“There was a case registered with the Crime Branch Mumbai in Feb 2021 about creation of pornographic films and publishing them through some Apps. We’ve arrested Mr Raj Kundra in this case on 19/7/21 as he appears to be the key conspirator of this. We have sufficient evidences regarding this.”

The FIR Procedure
The case was registered on February 4, 2021 at the Malwani police station in suburban Mumbai. An FIR was registered against Kundra after a woman contacted the police and made various explicit allegations in her complaint.
The officer stated that-
“On that basis, the FIR was registered and the case transferred to the Crime Branch. Earlier also, we had registered cases related to pornography in which an actress and some other persons were made accused.”

The Sections under Which Kundra Was Booked
The Police will probe the Raj Kundra case and find out if there is any link between this and pornography cases which the department had registered earlier.
Kundra was booked under IPC sections 420 (cheating), 34 (common intention), 292 and 293 (related to obscene and indecent advertisements and displays) besides relevant sections of the IT Act and the Indecent Representation of Women (Prohibition) Act. Further investigation is still under process.
Poonam Pandey’s allegations on Raj Kundra and his Associate
Last year, Poonam Pandey has filed a case against Raj Kundra and his associates in Bombay High Court. The model-actress stated that Kundra and his associates have been illegally using her content and added that the contract between them was terminated. Allegedly the company had leaked her contact information on the internet too.
In terms of the allegations made, Kundra’s associate Saurabh Kushwah said that-
“These allegations are false and baseless. We have not yet received any legal notice or petition from the court, so we will not be able to comment on it. We have cooperated with the authorities concerned and provided all required details. We will follow the due process of law and take steps accordingly.”
