In the ongoing Singhu Lynching matter, a Nihang Sikh claimed there were no regrets on chopping arm of a man and tying him to a barricade. On Friday early morning, the Singhu border reported a violent incident of horrific proportions amid the usually peaceful farmer’s protest. A man was found tied to a barricade with stab marks all over his body and his hand chopped off. The man succumbed to his injuries and passed away by the time the police had arrived.
In the context of the farmer’s protest, the October 15 Singhu Lynching, along with the Republic Day 2021 violence, will be written in history books with black ink.
Background
With their blue robes, their knives and swords covered with decorated sheaths, the warrior order of Sikhs, ‘Nihang’, is once again in spotlight. In 2020, some members of a Nihang group chopped off the hand of one of the Punjab Police’s sub-inspectors after they were asked to show their curfew pass amid the COVID-19 lockdown.
On Friday the Nihang group once again took the responsibility of chopping the hand of a man at the Singhu border as he had allegedly disrespected their holy scripture.
