If you’ve ever had a dog or longed for one, you’ll find yourself tearing up watching the video of a dog “crying” tears of joy after being offered food. The video has already gone viral on Douyin, the Chinese version of TikTok.
In the video, viewers could see the dog standing on his hind legs and swinging his front legs, a gesture that can be considered similar to that of begging for food. After being offered the food from the woman, the dog’s eyes were filled with tears of joy.
In another part of the video, the woman is visiting the park on a different day only to find the excited dog running to her. It’s the same dog to whom the kind woman offered food wagging his tail in an expression of affection. The dog recognized the woman and came to her running. The woman again offered the dog food and the dog’s eyes were yet again filled with tears.
In a statement to the local newspaper Xixiang Morning Post, the woman who wanted to remain anonymous said “Me and my friends were on the way to a park when we saw the stray dog. He started crying when we gave him food and I tried to put him in our car one time, but he refused and jumped back on the street.”
As turbulent a year this has been, little acts of kindness like these not only restore our faith in all that is good and kind but also taps into the humanity that tends to get in the hustle culture we all partake in.
