Recently, television actress and classical dancer Sudhaa Chandran gave an heartfelt plea to PM Modi on being asked to remove prosthetic limb at airports. Taking to Instagram, Sudhaa Chandran shared a video message and claimed that every time she is being asked to remove prosthetic limb for security purpose, it’s hurtful. She further added that she hopes that her message reaches the appropriate state and Central government authorities for prompt action.

The Bharatnatyam practicing dancer had met with an accident back she was 16 and due to gangrene in her right leg, the leg was amputated. Since then, she has won many accolades in the field of dancing and acting.

The Facts of the Matter

Television actress and Bharatanatyam dancer Sudhaa Chandran appealed to Prime Minister Modi to take congizance into the matter which revolves around her having to remove her prosthetic limb at airports. The actress shared a video message wherein she requested PM Modi to issue a ‘card’ like the one that is issued for senior citizens, which will help her avoid the “grilling” she faces at airports.

“Totally Hurt, Very Hurting”

The actress shared a glimpse of her stressful airport experiences and captioned her video message with, “Totally hurt… each time going through this grill is very very hurting….hope my message reaches the state and central government authorities….and expecting a prompt action.”

Chandran in her video message said, “Good evening, this is a very personal note that I want to tell to our dear Shree Modi Ji. This is an appeal to the central government and the state government. I am Sudhaa Chandran, an actress and dancer by profession, who has danced with an artificial limb and created history and made my country feel very proud of me.”

Sudhaa Chandran Shares What She Goes Through at Airports

“But every time that I go on my professional visits, each time, I am stopped at the airport and when I request them at the security, to the CISF officers that please do an ETD test for my artificial limb, they still want me to remove my artificial limb and show it to them,” the actress continued. For the unversed, an ETD test is Explosives Trace Detector test, used by authorities to identify and detect explosives of small magnitudes.

“Is This Humanly Possible, Modi Ji?” Chandran’s Appeal and Suggestion

The actress further added, “Is this humanly possible, Modi ji? Is this what our country is talking about? Is this the respect that a woman gives to another woman in our society?”

The actress also gave a suggestion while making her appeal and concluded the video with“I request you. It’s my humble request to you, Modi ji, that please like you give a senior citizen a card to say they are senior citizen.”
