Super bull ‘Sultan Jhota’ from Haryana, who once fetched Rs. 21 crores died recently. Incidentally, Sultan was a lover of whisky and consumed a heavy diet. His heavy died comprised of kilograms of apples, carrots, and liters of milk in a day. In several agricultural fairs across India, Sultan won multiple contests due to his built and appearance, which was par none.
Reportedly, a South African cattle farmer had offered Sultan’s owner Naresh Beniwal a sum of Rs. 21 crores. However, due to the emotional connection Naresh had developed with the bull, he denied the offer.

We have all heard of the story of a golden egg laying goose. The Aesop fable was about the impatience and greed of man who wanted to get rich fast, and hence decided to kill his goose to get as many golden eggs as he could.
However, the story of Sultan and his owner Naresh is exactly opposite. Known for his breeding prowess, Sultan once fetched a bid of Rs. 21 crores at an agricultural fair. However, Naresh denied to give his precious bull away and denied the riches he could’ve acquired.

You may roll your eyes in dismissal, but Sultan, who recently passed away was an MVB. So much so that he once fetched Rs. 21 crores in an Agricultural Fair.
Sultan, a super bull, was owned by Naresh Beniwal, who lives in Haryana’s Kaithal district. After 14 years of eventful life, Sultan passed away due to heart attack, leaving a void in Naresh’s heart.
It’s no secret that Indian farmers treat their cattle as a part of their family, and thus the setback of losing Sultan will be one of the biggest setbacks in Naresh’s life.
What Made Sultan So Special?
The once 6ft tall and weighing above 1.5-ton bull was known for his breeding prowess. For the unversed, a single ejaculate of Sultan was about 6 ml, from which 600 doses were prepared for breeding. A single dose of such semen is known to cost at about Rs. 250.
Reportedly, Sultan produced about 54,000 such doses every year. This means that the bull fetched about Rs. 1,35,00,000.
In a Hindustan Times report, Naresh Beniwal was quoted saying, “We spend around 200,000 every year on their upkeep, health care and vaccines. The bulls need a lot of milk and cattle feed and need to be bathed at least thrice a day to keep them healthy.”

Sultan Was a Fan of Whisky!
Aside from helping its owner with fresh milk and highly fertile semen for further breeding, Sultan was also in the news a few years back. Apparently, the super bull had acquired a taste for whisky. Several videos of Sultan indulging into a nightcap went viral on the internet.
While some people were wondering how the bull got into the habit of indulging into whisky at the first place, others wondered the health implications of whisky on Sultan.

A Sneak Peek into the Heavy Diet Sultan Had
For such a well-built and highly resourceful bull, it’s obvious that the diet would be equally vast. According to a report, Sultan’s diet comprised of about 15 kg of apples, 10 kg of grains, and 10-12 kgs of leafy-vegetables. It was reported that for its upkeep, its owners used to spend over Rs. 2,000 per day.
