Automobile giant Suzuki recently launched the Avenis for the young at heart. It’s a sporty 125CC scooter sold at Rs. 86,700 (ex-showroom, Delhi). From the initial visuals the Avenis appears to be a stylish scooter with futuristic design inspired by Suzuki’s classic design language. The Avenis will come in a slew of colours including Triton Blue, Metallic Matte Black, Pearl Blaze Orange, and more. It should be noted that the Avenis comes at a time when TVS NTorq and Hero Maestro’s are already being sold like hot cakes. Further, the Avenis will also compete with Honda Grazia and Aprilia SR 125.

Background

It wasn’t too long back when scooters where the primary selling vehicles in the two-wheeler vehicle category. However, post the COVID-19 pandemic, the two-wheeler industry too faced a slump and the demand for scooters slowed down drastically.

However, the sales ratio between motorcycles and ratio remained the same in FY2020 as FY 2019 – 32% of scooters and 64% of motorcycles, proving that the need for scooters are still there. In the scooter market, Honda Activa and TVS Jupiter have been the shining star for their respective manufacturers.

Suzuki Access, Hero Pleasure, Hero Maestro and TVS NTorq are also among the highest selling scooters in India, as per Auto Car Pro.

Meanwhile, a new kid is in town. Suzuki recently launched its stylist 125 scooter to make a dent in the two-wheeler industry.

The new scooter designed by the automobile giant which has in the past manufactured vehicles with stylish and futuristic design has left no stone unturned for their newest scoter. Suzuki Avenis Design

The design is much akin to what one would expect a Suzuki vehicle to be. The vehicle is targeted for the youths and the young and heart, and thus, features a sporty futuristic design. Up on the front, we see a centrally mounted LED headlight that’s similar to that of TVS NTorq. On the front we also see faux vents as well. On the handlebar indicators are placed and a triangular shaped windscreen sits on the front apron.

Suzuki Avenis Engine and Promised Performance

For the price of Rs. 86,700, customers will get a single-cylinder 125 cc fuel-injected engine. The motor generates a reasonable 8.6 bhp and torque of 10 nm will be available at 5,500 rpm. On the front customers will get telescopic forks and in the rear there’s a single shock absorbent unit.

The 125-cc scooter will be featured with a digital display that will be equipped with a Bluetooth. For the youths, incoming missed call and SMS alerts will also be displayed and turn-by-turn navigation will be included. A charging socket for the one who’s always at go is also available.

The Suzuki Avenis is priced at Rs. 86,700 ex-showroom, Delhi. It is relatively expensive than its arch-rival TVS NTorq 125 that is priced at Rs. 73,270. However, it’s cheaper than its own Burgman Street that’s sold at Rs. 89,600. Booking for the Suzuki Avenis will begin in the first week of December and the scooter will be delivered in the same month.
