Brutal Murder Over Suspected Affair
On October 14, Gurpreet took Berger to a room where he tied her hands and legs and then murdered her. Initially, he kept the body in a car that he had purchased using a woman’s ID. When the body started decomposing and emanating a foul smell, Gurpreet dumped it on the road near a MCD school in Tilak Nagar and fled.
The police were able to trace Gurpreet using CCTV footage which showed the car used to transport the body. They have seized both that car and another vehicle belonging to Gurpreet.

Signs of Torture Evident
Berger’s limbs were tied with chains and locks. Her body showed signs of torture – blisters on the legs, cut marks on the wrists, and burn marks. Her eyes had popped out suggesting death by strangulation. The advanced state of decomposition indicates that she was killed 24-48 hours before the body was discovered.
The brutal method of murder and the condition of the body point towards intense hatred and revenge as motives. However, police are also investigating human trafficking angles.
Accused Arrested, Cash Recovered
Based on technical and manual intelligence, Gurpreet was arrested on Saturday. The police have recovered Rs 2.25 crore in cash from his residence and are questioning him to ascertain more details. The identity of the deceased has been confirmed as 30-year-old Lena Berger, a Swiss national.
The Delhi Police and the Swiss embassy are working closely on the investigation. Further details are awaited as the probe continues. This brutal murder of a foreign national in the capital has sent shockwaves across the country.
