Evergreen hit TV show Taarak Mehta Ka Ooltah Chashmah’s Munmun Dutta is now in trouble. Babita ji aka Munmun Dutta was topping the trending section of Twitter with #ArrestMunmunDutta after the actress used a casteist slur in her video.
While interacting with her fans in a video Munmun Dutta in reference to her make-up says that, “Lip tint ko halka sa blush ki tarah laga liya hai because main YouTube pe aane wali hoon aur main achha dikhna chahti hoon. Bh***i ki tarah nahi dikhna chahti hoon.” Which roughly translates to – I’ve applied the lip tint as a blusher too, just because I’ll be featured in a Youtube video and I don’t want to look like ‘them’. The term used by her was coined by upper castes in the 19th century to denote members of a Dalit caste employed in sanitation and manual scavenging.’
