Popular YouTuber and Minecraft streamer Technoblade recently passed away due to cancer at 23. Outspoken Twitter user – and now biggest independent stakeholder Elon Musk paid tribute to the streamer. With over 12.2 million subscribers on his main channel and 1.2 million on his second channel, Technoblade was among the most loved game streaming personalities on the platform.
Following his demise, a video was shared on his channel which showed his father confirming the death of the popular YouTuber. The video titled “so long nerds” has been viewed over 39 million times. In the video, his father is heard saying, “Hello everyone, Technoblade here. If you’re watching this. I am dead.”
His father revealed that Technoblade’s real name was Alex. He also spoke about the time when he pranked his followers into thinking that his real name was Dave. “Thank you all for supporting my content over the years,” he continued. “If I had another hundred lives, I think I would choose to be Technoblade again every single time as those were the happiest years of my life,” the message read, as said by his father.
Earlier in 2021, Technoblade revealed that he was diagnosed with cancer. In another fundraising video shared in February 2022, it was revealed that Alex had been going through chemotherapy, radiation as his cancer treatment.

The streaming community was mourning today after it was confirmed that Technoblade passed away at 23. The Minecraft streamer was battling cancer, and after a prolonged illness, the YouTuber passed away. Like most Technoblade activities, Technoblade chose a unique way to announce his demise.

“So long nerds”
On his YouTube channel, a video dropped earlier today titled “so long nerds”. In the video, the Minecraft streamer’s father gave an emotional farewell to his son and appreciated his son’s fans for their support. The now deceased YouTuber also finally removed the long-standing mystery around his name and announced that his name was in fact Alex.

“Thank you all for supporting my content over the years,” his father continued. “If I had another hundred lives, I think I would choose to be Technoblade again every single time as those were the happiest years of my life,” his father added.

Meanwhile, after a 9 day break from Twitter, Elon Musk returned to his own microblogging platform and paid tribute to Technoblade. The Tesla founder shared a picture of Sonic the Hedgehog from ‘Wreck it Ralph’. The message in the picture read, “If you ever leave your game, and whatever you do, DON’T DIE, because if you die outside your own, game you don’t regenerate, EVER, GAME OVER!”
The message further read, “Cancer is an absurd piece of literal garbage and death., but also try to live your best life with the people you know. They could die the following day and you would regret not doing things with them.”

Life and Times of Technoblade
The 23-year-old YouTuber was a popular internet personality who was one of the only few personalities who amassed millions of followers who watched his Minecraft streams. In 2021, he shocked his fanbase by sharing the diagnosis of cancer.
Initially, the gamer experienced arm pain which he in early stages called a stress injury. However, after receiving no respite from his injury, he took to hospital where the diagnosed confirmed that he had cancer.
