Recently, Guinness Book of World Records adjudged Texas-based Great Dane called ‘Zeus’ the tallest dog in the world. At a whopping 3ft and 5.18in, Zeus not only dwarves most canines in the world, but can also intimidate most humans who have an average height of 5ft 7in. Zeus is currently two-year-old and resides with his owners in Bedford, Texas.

The idea to get Zeus registered in the Guinness World Records was brought up by Brittany’s (Zeus’ owner) family who suggested her that Zeus may likely be taller than the former world’s tallest living dog. Coincidentally, the former tallest living dog in the world was also called Zeus, and he too was a Great Dane. However, the former tallest dog in the world passed away in 2014.

After the folks at Guinness Book of World Records confirmed Zeus to be the tallest living dog (male), Brittany was quoted saying, “We didn’t think that was even a possibility but once we measured him, we realized he probably was. This has been a whirlwind and unexpected. We never thought we would own the largest living dog.”

Zeus, the former tallest dog in the world (male), was 7 ft 4 in tall when he stood on his hind legs.

The Facts of the Matter

Zeus’ Big-Little Family!

A ‘gentle giant’ through and through, Zeus’ best friend is one of the Australian Shepherds named Zeb.

How Zeus Entered Brittany’s Life

Brittany Davis brought Zeus home when her brother gifted Zeus to her when the latter was barely an eight-week-old Great Dane pup. Ever since she was a young girl, Brittany wanted to own a Great Dane and as luck would have it, her brother’s friend bred Great Danes, and this is how Zeus entered in the life of his dog mom.

Zeus Enjoys a Laid-Back Lifestyle

Although he holds an intimidating frame, he’s a gentle 2-year-old doggo. He enjoys a laid-back lifestyle and mostly enjoys his days walking with Birttany’s teenage son, chilling by the window as rain patters on the pane, and once in a while, taking a bite at the farmer’s markets.

Thanks to his huge frame, Zeus attracts a lot of attention. “Zeus is pretty famous at the Dallas Farmer’s Market. Everyone knows him, and the vendors all know him. He gets extra treats and lots of attention,” Brittany was quoted saying.

He also enjoys slurping through fried eggs, and bully sticks. Interestingly, his all-time favourite is not something that most could guess. It’s ice-cubes!
