The harrowing CCTV footage showing a woman in Thane being dragged for 500 meters after being molested by the auto driver has gone viral on social media. The incident occurred in Maharashtra’s Thane and occurred earlier on Friday, sometime around 6.45 am. A case was registered against the accused, who was arrested later. The accused was identified as Katikadala alias Raju Abbayi.
The CCTV footage of the video shows a girl reacting with courage and bravery after an auto-driver tried to molest her. She catches the auto driver by his shirt and doesn’t let him go despite him starting the auto to flee.
The man tries to shove the woman away to be freed. However, the girl doesn’t let go of the man’s shirt and gets dragged by the auto for several meters at a high speed, before losing grip of the vehicle and falling on the road.
As per senior inspector Jairaj Ranaware, the girl was on the way to her college when the auto driver passed remarks against her and then pulled her hand. “The women managed to hold the driver but he sat inside the auto and started it. He raced the auto which led to dragging the women for about 500 meter,” the senior inspector further said.
The girl sustained minor injuries on her hands and legs, and was treated in a hospital as an outpatient.

In Thane, a brave college girl resisted a molestation bid by an auto driver, and in process got dragged by the vehicle for at least 500 meters, sustaining injuries on her legs and hands. The 21-year-old college girl’s brave resistance against the auto-driver was caught on CCTV footage, visuals of which are going viral.
The incident occurred earlier on Friday, 6.45 am in Maharashtra’s Thane. The accused, who was absconding after a case was filed against him, was reported to be arrested on Saturday.
What Does the Video Show?
CCTV footage shows an auto-driver making an objectionable gesture towards a 21-year-old girl. When the girl resists the man and stands her ground, the auto driver tries to flee the scene. However, the girl decides to take the man to task, and grabs her shirt. The auto driver tries to shove the woman away from him to free himself. The woman doesn’t budge, and then gets dragged outside the speeding auto, before she loses her grip and fells on the road.

Case Registered
A complaint was registered and based on it, the police registered a case against the driver under multiple sections of IPC including Section 354 (assault to woman with intent to outrage modesty) and 354A (sexual harassment).
Senior inspector Jairaj Ranaware told media that the accused fleed the scene and teams have been formed to nab the absconding.

Accused Arrested, Woman Taken to Hospital
The woman was later rushed to a hospital as an outpatient for treatment of her injuries on the legs and arms.
Earlier on October 15, Saturday, the police arrested the accused auto driver identified as Katkidala alias Raju Abbayi from Digha, Navi Mumbai. The accused’s auto rickshaw was also seized.
